South China Sea News:
Boy those ole sanctions sure arent what they used to be.....

The 5,111km-long gas route, a signature project underscoring tightening economic ties between China and its resource-rich neighbour, would provide “stable natural gas supply” for a combined 130 million households each year, it added.

So is this another sign of Russia's imminent collapse?

That's one small suburb in China
Joking aside, it's amazing what can be accomplished when the leaders (evil, communists or not) aren't trying to destroy the country they govern. Looking at you democrats

International sanctions are only as good as how willing countries are to enforce them. Hell, we don't even enforce many of our own laws. I'm more worried about lawlessness here at the moment.

At full capacity this pipeline will do ~5 bcfd. Prior to the Ukraine war Russian exports to Europe where at 17.4 bcfd. Russian exports to Europe are still at 4 bcfd right now. Even with Chinese pipeline in service the Russians are still down close to 50% on nat gas exports.
This isn't a victory. This is spending ~70 billion in cash on a pipeline project for Russia to export 50% of what it used to send to Europe.

So it begins, the slow walk to Russian NATO membership. In the far too distant future, China will have no other alternative than to invade Russia for its resource potential that is huge.
Russia will get a call from NATO.

No, it’s a long term investment that will not lose money.

China will likely have fractured by then. It isn't the cohesive behemoth that we've been led to believe. Shanghai, for instance, has much different concerns and goals than Beijing. The southern coast is ripe for secession as they have historically had strong economic ties to Western powers (Hong Kong/Macau). The interior is largely ignored by Beijing and they have no political power as evidenced by their lack of representation on the Politburo.
If China COULD hold out, Russia would have no chance to defend their territory conventionally. They only have about 1/9th of China's population, far lower GDP and industrial capacity, and only two rail lines connecting the far east to populated European Russia. Their only options would be to surrender the territories or jump straight to nuclear conflict.
Going to be interesting to see how that one plays out. Either way, it's none of our business. We aren't going to risk losing hundreds of thousands of men to defend Russia's resources from China.

It’s amazing what Putin has done to Russia, all in the name of saving the Motherland.

It's a long term investment to make 50% of the year to year cash Russia used to make on nat gas sales.

Not to mention that Russia is selling its gas to China at below market prices.

1. F**K Germany. They are the ones whose politicians took bribes from Gazprom and pushed for green energy which made them dependent upon Russia for natural gas to go along with the green energy. If Germany had spent 20+ years getting Europe addicted to Russian natural gas, Russia could have never afforded to build up its military.
2. Why do you want Germany to buy Russian gas instead of American LNG? Do you want jobs for Russians instead of jobs for Americans?

Russians buying imported Chinese goods at a discount does not help the Russian government fund itself. In fact it hurts it. Russia has had to lower tariffs on Chinese goods to get China to buy its natural gas. That means less tax revenue. So cheap Chinese might be good for the Russian people, but it does not put money in the Russian government's bank accounts.

Good. Let China start exploiting Russia instead of the USA. I'm ok with that.
The risk of close ties with China greatly outweighs the rewards.

The USA supplied 80% of Germany's LNG imports in 2023. We will increase that once Trump gets into office and removes Biden's restrictions on natural gas production.
