Supposedly he stole the cart girl's cart first. When the victim confronted him, he killed the victim.

If you read the full story the guys that were with him basically say they just stood there and watched him beat their friend to death.

Maybe Boucher saw him using a foot wedge. While death is a high penalty for bending rules it may have been his 4th offense. We need more randos enforcing golf rules.
