Anyone else cook the traditional turkey/dressing meal for Thanksgiving but not for Christmas?

We go all out for the Thanksgiving Day meal but when it comes to the Christmas Day meal, we might cook spaghetti one year or have like "party food" or even just burgers/fries.

We’ve always been pretty traditional on Christmas too. This year my father in law is pushing Italian this year. I’ll allow it.

We basically do the same meal. I like the concept, but I doubt I could convince the family to adopt it.

T-Day this year is going to be real simple since I'm recovering from an ankle surgery and not having 25 people over.

It's just 4 of us, so a small baked turkey, green bean casserole, dirty rice, an apple or pecan pie, some wine/spirits/sodas and rolls.

My wife loves her spiral sliced ham, sweet potatoes and maybe a small casserole of some type for Christmas.

We started doing this several years ago and I definitely prefer it to repeating the Thanksgiving menu a month later

Did steak and shrimp last year

Christmas Eve, with just the immediate family most years, was always the non-traditional meal. Finger sandwiches, deviled eggs, veggie tray, dessert tray, that kind of stuff. Over the years, it became the tradition.

Growing up my family always got together and made grillades and grits for Christmas.

I really need to get my hands on that recipe.

Thanksgiving Day is always traditional. Turkey, dressing, pies, etc

Black Friday we celebrate T’giving with my in-laws and it varies widely—Italian, charcuterie festival, BBQ. This year will be a little more traditional with turducken and more cajun/creole sides.

Christmas Eve is seafood all day.

Christmas Day is brunchy—ham, breakfast casseroles, biscuits.

We all are pretty satisfied with this line up.

For many years, the church we attend hosts a traditional Thanksgiving meal the Sunday before the holiday. Doing turkey again less than a week later is too much so we do non-traditional for Thanksgiving day. The MIL already stashed beef tenderloin filets in our freezer. Will smoke then sear. Haven't settled on sides yet. It's just the 4 of us this time. If there's a bigger crowd we've done things like enchiladas, lasagna, pot roast, etc.

Christmas will likely be non-traditional too but not always.

Traditional for Thanksgiving. For Christmas, we have an open house with heavy cocktail food on Christmas Eve. We have a big breakfast Christmas morning. Then, those with other family obligations go to those. Christmas night, we will have gumbo and party leftovers for those who want to come.

My family is spread out all over the country. We don’t travel for Thanksgiving. Usually have small groups of 4 or 5 in different cities and eat at restaurants. Last few Christmas dinners together have been prime rib and lobster. I am not cooking this year so I don’t know what my adult children are doing. We will be in Perdido do it could be anything

I have no say. Family says we have both turkey and ham, cornbread dressing and whatever else. They want the same for Christmas. I’ve changed it up once or twice in life and you would’ve thought that I killed a baby seal. Just gonna give them what they want. Most weeks they’re happy with whatever I feed them but evidently we don’t deviate on holidays. :)

My ex’s family in high school did this… 25 years ago.

Christmas Eve, or maybe the weekend before, etc.

Traditional Thanksgiving.

Gumbo on Christmas Eve, and BBQ on Christmas Day, brisket, pulled pork, potato salad, baked beans, etc.
