Is better than Ole Miss, right there with ALA and A&M.

I don’t want to hear these bleak predictions and doomsday scenarios. Everyone outside of Georgia and Texas are in the same boat right now.

LSU is recruiting great and if Nuss returns will have an experienced QB who I’ve been down on but can be special next year.

Everyone was pumped when we signed Colin Hurley. He seemed to bleed purple and gold, has size and has an arm…. Oh and he can move in the pocket.

I’m sad we missed out on Bryce but we have someone who wanted to go to the dance with us right on the bench.

I think our offensive future is bright. Just gotta hope the defense can come around.

I mean I think LSU is what it has always been.

They get enough talent to usually go 9-3 or so in a year, if things are bad, it's more like 7-5, if things are good, we win a natty.

I don't understand this notion that LSU should expect to be better than that every year, that's what they've been for a very long time now.

Exactly. Miles had a couple of back to back 12 win seasons right after Saban, but otherwise, Saban, Miles, and Orgeron (until he reverted to his Ole Miss Orgeron) averaged 9 wins per year. We caught lightning in the bottle in four years and won a Natty (one with two losses) in three of the four (2011 was a special season) That’s the golden age of LSU football.

Nil and transfer portal has made college football interesting …though they need to make limits on the money and how oftern you can transfer or make u sit out a year after the first transfer

I’m not sold on Nuss until he shows that he can actually get it done against real competition. With the exception of Ole Miss, he’s consistently shitted the bed against defenses that have a pulse. He gets rattled easily and that’s not something that you can overcome with coaching.

Keeping him is risky for Kelly considering what’s at stake next year. We’re better off getting a seasoned P5 transfer QB.

South Carolina was real competition, and believe it or not, Vandy this year was also. And he did fine against Arkansas, and got 400 yds against A&M.

You're nuts. You're not going to find a better QB in the portal.

What Nuss needs is an offseason's progression into his second starting season, and a running game to back him. His mistakes are correctable.

A lot of posters here seem to think there all kinds of SEC level starters just sitting in the portal.

Dont need but 1. I can name 4 off the top of my head that were in last years, 3(2 starters)will be in the playoffs. Will Howard, Julian Sayin, Cam Ward(all in the playoff) then Kyle McCord. And we literally had 2 Heisman winners in 5 years from the portal. What makes you think this year won't have any? Guarantee there will be at least 3-5 in this years portal that have as much a chance to be successful here as Bryce Underwood would've and he's the reason we are having this conversation at all.
Nuss isn't horrible but he doesn't fit what we want to do offensively. The OC has to be confident that his qb is capable of running his offense so that he can call plays without catering to the qb. The lack of comfortability between Nuss' style and Sloans playcalling is obvious. It makes them both look worse than they are. And I don't think either are particularly special. At minimum one has to be different next season.

What gives me hope is the defensive staff. Coming into the year there were a lot of people that expected the defense to be awful. Our DTs and DBs were simply not good enough (and frankly this did cause some problems this year). However, for the most part the defense has been much better than last year, even after losing the most important person on the defense (Jacobian Guillory) and others. Now give those defensive coaches a couple of years to bring in some significant talent (as they seem to be doing), and the defense will be brutal (especially with Baker's penchant to bring pressure).

Hurley was sub par his final year in high school, to put it nicely. His stock plummeted. If he ever starts for us we’re screwed. There’s no sugar coating the loss of Underwood. He was always the plan for the next three years. Not Hurley.

I think LSU is in good shape as well. Why should Nuss return? What does he have to gain. The tackles are leaving. His main safety net to throw the ball is leaving. The O line will be young and mostly inexperienced. He does not run when he should and next year he would running for his life more.

He will be a 1st or 2nd roound pick. Don't see his draft stock rising higher coming back. Plus I don't see this system as a fit for him. Why would he come back?

Georgia ain’t that good. Texas hasn’t played anyone and lost to Georgia.

UGA got dog walked by ole miss.

It’s a shame we couldn’t pull it together this year. Kelley really has no excuse now and going forward. SEC is wide open

I like and root for Nuss. I am praying he comes back and makes a giant leap on accuracy in year 5 like Burrow and Daniels did. That being said, he is not a 1st or 2nd round draft pick - mechanics too shaky. At best he is 3rd or 4th round “upside” pick ie not a “project” but not ready to start either.
