$50m per year? Would the citizens vote for it? If you think about it, the State supports the Saints financially, and LSU football is probably just as important to the State. What says the Rant….

Yeah. Let’s add a tax to the 2nd poorest state in the union.

Does it? Or is that local tax dollars? Since they are the ones reaping the economic benefit.

and LSU football is probably just as important to the State

There may be an argument that this is true. But there’s only 1 NFL team in Louisiana. There are several 4-year colleges with alumni from the others that wouldn’t vote for it even if it were legal, which I doubt a law like that would be because we’re already all supporting the state public universities with our tax dollars. Allocating an extra $50 million per year to just one and for its football team? Less than zero chance.

You can skip taxing the rest of the state and just donate your 12.50 per year to LSU directly.

The idea of STUDENT-athlete is a privilege to play college sport at a school that you love and receive a DEGREE as preparation for life. If some fat cat wants to dump money on LSU athletics…his/her choice. Tax payers should never be forced to support privileged athletes.

Yea. Why not? Great idea.

I think Tulane and UL could benefit greatly from an NIL fund like that.

Sure. Let’s make all LA citizens pay a tax for a sport (SMH)

Did you graduate from Alabama?

It’s dumb ideas like this that get substitute tigers brought in the stadium… your proposal would make the 3.5m non-LSU football fans pay for kids to get paid so maybe they might win some more games. Oh, and taxation is theft. Dingus.
