Trump should ditch the Gaetz pick and choose Ken Paxton or someone else

There are plenty of other people, like Paxton, who can lay waste to the DOJ just as well, if not even better, than Gaetz.

Remember in Trump's first term how Sessions had to recuse himself and then Rosenstein/Mueller hamstrung Trump for so long? You don't want someone like Gaetz to get confirmed, then have the Deep State compromise them and get a special counsel in there to paralyze Trump again. The risk is too high that Gaetz as AG will be a huge albatross that they hang on Trump's neck.

Good news is there is still plenty of time to change course and nominate someone else.
