Imagine only having to show up at your federal job 6 times a year.

Charlie Kirk just went through this. I had no idea they only have to physically be there one day per month. They just knock out two days every other month if the start of the month falls during the week.

My previous job (private-sector project manager) was 100% remote.

Why not move them to a LCOL area and reduce the pressure on salary expenses?

I hear Little Rock, Tulsa, Baton Rouge, and Boisie are affordable.

OP is probably one of those "if you're not in the office, you're not working" types.

This is a problem in the private sector also. I know multiple people who have 2 WFH jobs that run groceries and go to the gym on the clock. It's the biggest scam in Human History and should be made illegal.

Seems like they are about to get freed up by 100% and will never have to come in

Oh, and without a paycheck

If they're still getting tasks done and pulling an 8-hour day, what's the problem?

So you want the government to have even more power over companies by controlling how they do business internally?

I did, and never set foot in the home office (which was a 7 hour drive away). Current job is a hybrid mix which I actually prefer.

Yes but in the private sector they are scamming their employers and not the american tax payer

For someone who claims he's a "small government is better" guy you sure do want the government to be involved in our lives a lot more.

Uh, in many cases that is mostly right. Especially with government employees.

You are not. You are running groceries, picking up kids from school, etc. Most WFH people say they can't go back to office because it will ruin their work/life balance I am just glad Elon is about to bring the hammer down on WFH, he hates it with a passion and wants people back in the office. Not to mention the Commercial Real Estate collapse if WFH is not eliminated. In a sense, it's a matter of national security

Most people I know that WFH will still put in a full day, but instead of 8-5, it might be 7-8, 9-2, 4-6.

FWIW, I think a hybrid schedule is the best approach.

Used to work in government, the useless employees in-office were still useless.

Because they are pulling a 8 hour day with 2 companies when the company doesn't know they have 2 WFH jobs. So technically they are doing 4 hour shifts for the company and getting paid for 8. Not to mention running to the grocery store and picking up kids while on the clock. I would be in favor of the corporations suing these individuals for fraud

I got some fed buddies - They are required on site one day a week currently.
