Not really looking for a set, just a single, large suitcase. Soft side preferred, but won’t rule out hard side if there’s enough capacity. Will be used, but not heavily, so price is probably the biggest factor. Zipper gave out on my large suitcase, and I need to replace it.

I feel like TravelPro used to be the answer. We like Briggs and Thule but TP is pretty solid I think

I always just go to TJ Maxx, they have good deals and with the way luggage is abused by airlines I don’t want to invest in anything long term. Get a new one every 2-3 years.

Osprey Farpoint 40L

I picked up one of these a few months ago and it has been fantastic. I use compression sleeves (cheap ones off Amazon) to keep things organized, but I can fit a weeks worth of clothes in here and bring it on the plane with me.

I found a $150 suitcase at Ross for $7. Percentage-wise, probably my greatest score, and it didn't smell like weed.

Picked up this set last year. Came highly recommended and they have worked well so far.

Travelpro is my go to. It's light and I tend to get a lot of years out of them even with weekly travel.

But if you only use it 2-3 times a year.....just buy something cheap.

That's what I have for my carry on and it's fricking great. I think I paid $180 for it and it came with all sorts of features and other stuff included. Best part is that it rolls super easy. My GF makes us switch bags when we travel and are walking through the airport

LINK

Looks like it's twice as expensive now vs. what I paid. Damn.

When I started traveling for work regularly (2006ish), I bought a set of Samsonite’s top of the line softside luggage.

Through the years, I had a few issues like a busted wheel or a zipper pull that came off. In each instance I got a new replacement bag and I never had to pay Samsonite another dollar.

In fact, I sent a bag back 3 years ago for repair and they just sent me a new one instead. In that case I paid $20 for shipping.
