The Gaetz picks feels like needlessly stepping on a rake

I mean surely they vetted this. Its not like a Kavanaugh situation where he was nominated and the Democrats trotted someone out in response to accuse him of being a deviant.

This investigation has been out there for years. It was in a Republican house. Even if you don't find it credible, the allegation that he slept with a 17 year old is going to put a repellent stink on his chances of getting Senate approval.


So his only chance is via recess. That'll certainly draw up a narrative that Trump is doing and end run around Senate vetting and confirmation to install a pedophile as the nation's chief LEO. But also keep in mind that John Thune is now heading up our coalition in the Senate. Recess appointments rely on his cooperation to dismiss and let these appointments get pushed through. Thune is the exact type of GOPe type that Gaetz pissed off with his SotH hell raising. Not sure he will open up recess to push Gaetz through.


Idk.Was there really no one else with a bulldog mentality that didn't have this unnecessary baggage? I feel like there's better options here that still aren't cave ins to Democrats or establishment.
