The play in the third quarter where Nuss ignored a wide open Taylor on a crossing route to try to force a difficult throw to a deep receiver. Incomplete rather than first down.

sad but true. he does it on rollouts too when the first down is there for the taking with his legs and he throws one downfield. Even if he makes the throw, it allows the defense to ignore the possibility of him running.

Well you have to throw it 20 yards when you need 4. It’s what we’ve done all yr. It’s sad. Hell we don’t even have a punter.

Yup. It would be great to see him thin out the defense by making them defend more of the field.

I was thinking the same thing. There is a chance that they had some zone coverage behind him (I don't think there was a replay)

but he seemed open, it was way easier than the throw he attempted, and even if there were dudes there Taylor could fight for the yards

Instead he threw a low chance covered deep out that was incomplete...

3rd and 4 and he runs? Nope? Tosses the underneath? Nope. He tries to force the ball on a sideline throw 20 yards downfield.

Summer up - very average. He cannot carry the team and the team is not very good.

In 2022, Jayden wouldn't make 50/50 throws. That changed for him in 2023.

Can Nuss make a similar adjustment? Take the easy throws for first downs rather than forcing it?

Why were our receivers not getting separation last night?

Nuss seems to have a receiver already picked out before the snap and he goes to him regardless if anyone else is open.

Agree. Can that be fixed?

Yes, agreed. He has regressed over the past 3 games. We have to blame the coaching as well. Sloan needs to be relieved of the OC duties. I know the offense has flaws, but he is not putting Nuss or the offense in positions to succeed.

He’s playing like someone that hasn’t played an entire season

First year starter, he can learn from that. But with how flawed our team is, he has to make every play in order to give our team a chance to win. This is all coaching.

If he comes back he will greatly improve. He has had a better first year than Burrow and JD5, but our Coaching has been significantly worse.

Good point. No quick openers. No button hooks.

At least we get to squash the "Nuss has to do everything" rhetoric. amazing how bad he is with plenty of time to make decisions compared to most quarterbacks.

His mentality is that every throw he makes will be caught... and his mentality says I'm throwing every time and not running because I'm getting more yards by passing the ball. He will never attempt to run.

Agreed, but I think we also need to bring in a legitimate competitor at qb in the spring. Can’t go into another season without someone who can challenge Nuss for the starting qb job. It’s not smart to put all of that pressure on an incoming freshman either

The guy is just not a good QB. I have seen enough.
