They're usually middle of the pack on your generic favorite foods ranking. I personally feel they should be rated higher than some contemporaries.

Quality hot dogs are frickin delicious

A good quality hot dog fresh off the grill can be pretty awesome.

People who boil them are Bolsheviks.

Hot dogs are a food that I never think about, but when I eat one, I say "how come I don't eat hot dogs more often"

Give me James Coney Island any day of the week. The original pepper sauce on the tables is fire.

Hoffmann German Franks and Snappy Grillers are what you need to try.

When I like to act like a fatass I get a footlong coney from Sonic. I love a good hot dog a couple times a year.

I won’t light up the charcoal unless I have a pack of hot dogs to go on the grill. Always eat a couple while grilling other meats.

My daughter lives in Morgantown and the slaw dogs in nearby Fairmont are great.

My favorite grilled food. Easy, inexpensive, customized toppings to be as basic or as fancy as each individual wants, and universally enjoyed.

Here's Matt Mitchell's hot dog rankings. Honest rankings from a fat guy with a few sensible chuckles. If you watch on youtube instead of embed here, you can skip past his embedded ad.

These and Kayem or Sahlens. Casing sets them apart. On a potato bun. With chili, shredded cheese and white onions (finely-diced).

Bham has a pretty good hot dog scene. We have a couple of small local places and seemingly always have. Here’s a good read of the history and particularly the Greek influence on hot dogs around here: LINK

My favorite hot dog place is in Columbus, OH. Dirty Frank’s Hot Dogs is amazing. Highly recommend it if you are in the area.

I'm just gonna leave this right here.

The hot dog weiners at Iverstine's are the best I've had.. and with their chili.. over the top.
