You can hire someone for about $125. I've had success with Green Seasons fore core aeration.

Southern Grasshoppers in BR area also provides this service. I recently worked with them on another project that did not involve core aeration. I highly recommend them as well.

Not aerating now just trying to find prices for next season.

if a rental is $100, I'd choose hiring it out over renting for sure. Rental equipment can be frustrating as hell especially if not familiar with how a machine works or should work. Rental places are good at making sure stuff "functions" but not really concerned with how well it functions or how calibrated it is.

Oge's Rental on Airline across from the fair grounds has always been the cheapest for me.

Our lawn service recommends it in the spring.

Treppendahl did it for $100 for me back in September. Well worth not having to do that myself.

Southern Grasshoppers charges $125 to core aerate? How much turf are we talking about?

I assume that does not include picking up the cores either.

My neighbor and I rented one a few years back and split the cost. We both have some pretty significant grades in front and back, which made the job A LOT more difficult than either of us expected. Plus there’s a bit of a learning curve, and the possibility of gouging up your concrete. I’ll never do that again. I now happily pay someone to do it for me.

I haven't received a price from them for Core Aeration. I mentioned them because they just did an excellent job on putting sod in my front yard a couple of weeks ago.

However that is the price I've paid in the past from Green Seasons. They did good work as well. They did not pick up the cores but I have read that its better to leave the cores. My lot is approximately 1/2 acre.

We got the best one from Home Depot for I think $160 for the day and I split it with 3 neighbors. Took each of us 1-2 hours and cost $40. Helped to have a few guys to pick it up and drop it off too.

People do this?

In the Fall I aerate, spread lawn improvement stuff (worm casings, sand, compost is what my lawn needs), seed, and water. The cores just break down into loose top soil.

Do they offer core aeration now? In the past they only offered some bullshite hydraulic aeration. I did not have good experience with them.
