Everyone has their opinions but I have a story. Back in February I was stationed in Germany. Accompanied by my wife and had our first daughter there. There were things going on with my wife postpartum and there was only so much I could do that was out of my control. All the years I’ve known her she never felt the way she was feeling. So we were able to see someone in Behavioral Health. A few months past and she’s trending down. She was seen about 3 weeks later by the same doctor. I wasn’t able to go with her I was taking care of my daughter at home. She came back crying and historical. She told me the doctor was very unprofessional about her past experiences with pregnancy and she told him the medicine wasn’t working she had tried like 3-4 medications at that point and they wanted to continue messing with the dosage and I was like hell no they need to get you with a doctor and therapy not just fricking medication. He didn't even know she had appointment with him that day when we scheduled this at least 3 weeks out he rushed the whole appointment and put whatever he wanted in his computer. He also including how her miscarriages weren’t a traumatic experiences and wouldn’t recommend a compassionate reassignment for us. Even though she had other people recommend it. I was fuming and immediately contacted my COC. But I kept my cool and within 30 minutes my commander was able to talk to me. I told her what happened. She supported whatever I wanted to do. Meanwhile my dad told me to contact my congressman (Clay Higgins). With the time changes it took me about 2 days to send in a congressional. I shite you not 2 days later I got word it had already gotten to our brigade and they needed to answer within 72 hours. And I was approved to be relocated back home that week. Words can’t describe how much that meant to my wife and I. He’s for the people. I will never forget what he has done for my family and I. And his team continues to check on us here and there. Sorry if this is long I usually like to keep it short.

What does this have to do with Clay Higgins though?
ETA: he was your congressman? Might want to clarify

Glad to see he was more responsive for you than he was for SWLA after Hurricane Laura.

He’s my congressman. I had to contact his office? And his team worked with me and helped me with the process.

I’m going to assume that he was the congressman contacted and that got them reassigned.
Some think he’s a dumbass .. I do think his heart is in the right place and he’s not one of the evil ones.
Glad yall are back stateside and I pray your wife and baby are doing well.

That’s good he was able to help, but they way it reads you also were working it through your chain and they were moving, but then you jumped and ver the chain. Not a good look for you long term in the military.
The chain of command appeared to be working the issue, were they not? I know sometimes they don’t move fast as we would like, but unless there was immanent danger involved it’s not good to jump it.
I’m glad your wife is getting what she needs. My ex was depressed post partum on our first and it was no joke. Of course, if I knew about her families mental health history I’d never dated her let alone married her.

My wife's first husband (RIP) was career military. She was with him for 3 deployments to Germany, spending a total of 8½ years there.
She just read your story. She couldn't believe how the military has changed. Her words, "when we were there (70s-80s), the Army would have told him. We didn't issue you a wife. Send her home to her parents."
She is glad things have changed. She is a strong advocate for military dependents. They suffer a lot of the same hardships as the spouse in the military. Her last trip to Germany, they lost her furniture and houshold items for 6 months. They lived in military lodging with 3 kids for 6 months until the shipping pod was finally located.
Her husband was part of the advance team during the Gulf War. She receive 10 hours notice that she was going to have the house, 3 kids, and all the responsibility. He came in at 6 PM and told her he was leaving for Saudia Arabia. At 4 AM the next morning he was gone for nearly 8 months.
She said one thing that was very hard. Her husband told her, "the entire division is going, but you cannot say anything to anyone." She worked on base (Fort Campbell) for the DoD. She had to go into work and work along side her friends who were also military spouses, knowing their husbands were leaving in 2-3 weeks, and she couldn't say a thing.
Being a military spouse is not easy.

So in my post it said she supported what ever I wanted to do. I told her exactly what I had planned to do. I told my squad leader that I wanted an open door meeting with the commander. He was already tracking my wife’s situation. Then my PSG called me after my squad leader explained it to him. I then was contacted to meet with commander 30 mins after. I never had problems since I was there my 1SGT was on leave at the time aswell. But that’s besides the point. You’re assuming I went over their heads when they were already in the know. I’ve had a great career in the military. And I will until I ETS in February of 2026. When my 1SGT came back he personally shook my hand and said I did the right thing and he had wish he could’ve been there so he could tear a new one into whoever did that. He said if he went there he’d be treated differently then lower enlisted. Shocker right? But I appreciate you just assuming. At the end of the day all that mattered was my wifes health and wellbeing. The military rolls along without me anyways. I plan to get out so it didn’t matter what repercussions came my way.

I have a good story about him also. I have a friend that I had been trying to help get hearing aids through the VA. He's 81, a Marine Corp vet, whose job description was machine gunner, imagine the hearing loss. We had been trying for months, calling, receiving emails, all we got was, "it's in the works".
His daughter got tired of it, and someone told her to contact Clay Higgins office. Fast forward, very quickly, he had approval for community care locally and his hearing aids are ordered. Say what you want about him and his style, but he's a lot like another guy that just got elected again, Clay Higgins is for us.

His name keeps popping up as one of the good guys. He needs to be in the Trump admin.

He's just garbage like the rest of us.

Dumbness is not a disqualifier for congress. SFP, you sound like an elitist.

I said he's dumb, not garbage.

You see it in wars, some are heroic and will and did give their lives for their fellow compatriot. Even those who consider them to be among the dumbest people in congress. Whatever that means??

This is decidedly not true. I have dealt with him for years. He may not be cut out to teach at an ivy league institution but he is NOT dumb and he actually has quite a bit of practical street smarts and reasoning skills. Honestly, based on my assessment of your posting history, probably better than yours. And while one can disagree with him on policy his voting will be consistent with the values that he espouses.
