I wasn't alive for the space races but I know our country and our children used to be captivated by going to space. There was a whole American culture around the idea of space. Somewhere along the way it just became old hat and we as a nation lost our passion. I think there's so much left out there to explore and understand. I hope Elon and Trump spark a new era of excitement for space exploration.

I recently listened to a podcast discussing Elons goals. Apparently his #1 goal is to put a colony on Mars.
This is why everything he innovates and invents just happen to be perfect for colonizing a planet.
Underground tunnels for travel
Robots to help build infrastructure
Solar Panels
SpaceX
Autopilot/EV cars.
NASA and the government are holding him back and now that he has joined Trump and will be given favorable treatment with gov contracts he’s that much closer to attaining his goal.
Crazy or seems plausible?

I don’t understand why we need to do that. I appreciate his genius. Obviou NASA has been neutered by him. I’m just skeptical of why we need to send people to another planet to live. This shite isn’t a Matt Damon movie.

Because it’s cool and we can

The dawning of a new American golden age.

Why did Human Civilization cross oceans 1000’s of years ago?

Because who wants to share a planet with Progressives?

Humanity's destiny is to either die on this planet, or expand beyond and through the galaxy.

No they just rely on SpaceX. Nasa of the 70's is not coming back.

If by some miracle we don't self destruct this planet, we need to be able to travel to different solar systems to sustain life.

Because we humans like to frick, and we're running out of things to frick, space presents the best chance to find something new and exotic to frick.

Because we frickin can. Jeez

Space X definitely brought back the fire when they landed the first falcon booster a few years ago. It's going to be off the chain when they catch starship and it's booster simultaneously.

Because sooner or later we are going to suffer a planetary event that can wipe out civilization. We have to hedge our bets, and move out into our galaxy. With AI coming along, and robotics it will become much easier. Raw resources are abundant and refined in the asteroid belt, many worth more than the entire economy of the world many times over.

We need a staging point for venturing further into space, mostly. That and it's cool.
