Have to say, and happy to say it, I was 100% wrong on this kid, he has proven a whole bunch of Pels fans wrong in 6 games.

Here’s to 76 more games of Starter Missi

Future is bright as he adds a little strength and weight.

Coach Green decision to start Messi would have been better to start the season to settle roster and rotations (no one had any idea Pels would lose 4 out of the top 6 players to start the season). All Pels injured should be back or close before end of month. DJ, Herb, BI, Zion, and Missi sounds good to me, but what of CJ, TM3, and Hawk (top 3 reserves), let alone Jose, Javonte, Boston, and a backup 5 who will be vying for earning minutes?

Are you concerned that we’re too deep? I’m not sure such a thing exists

It’s one of the few benefits to having a rash of injuries.

Just don’t know how Pels are going to handle rotations with everyone available. DJM comes back with Missi starting and TM3 soaking up 30 minutes, who sits CJ? Who’s minutes get cut Hawk? Going to be interesting.

We only got a one-game sample size, but the Dejounte to Missi pick and roll looked amazing. I think that Willie will want their minutes to overlap a lot, as this could be a way to efficiently generate points in the paint when Zion is not on the floor.

I also know that I want as much overlap as possible between Zion and Trey.

I still think that we will usually close with Dejounte, Herb/CJ, Trey, BI, and Zion. (Willie will use timeouts to make offensive/defensive substitutions with CJ and Herb.)

We are going to be trading players eventually.

I don’t see Ingram and CJ on this team by the end of the season.

First decision point next week, when TM3 returns. Is he moved into the starting lineup? I think he has to with a new contract and so many players missing. If so you might have Jose, BI, TM3, Zion, Messi with rotation of Hawk, Green, Theis/JRE. Then you have CJ,Herb, and DJM coming back within two weeks of each other with potentially only one starter spot open (unless injury or Missi proves not ready).

I don't think he starts the first game back, because you really want to bring a hamstring back cautiously, but he should be starting within a few games.

If Missi continues progressing the way he is, he will absolutely be subbed in defensively for late possessions. Elite rim protection is valuable late.

I dislike David Griffin mostly for the way he carries himself but he has been a GREAT drafter. Before him, I was of the impression that if you didn't have a top 5 pick the you couldn't get good players through the draft in the NBA. Turns out, we just sucked at drafting before and Griffin has it figured out.

Missi will be a much better fit as rim protector was our biggest need next to true PG, and we got that with Murray. I think this team can make noise if we aren’t freaking injury ridden.
