40 3pt attempts per game

Isn't that the goal? How do we get there with this current group (especially missing Murphy)?
Ingram took 6, which isn't bad. McCollum took 8, but had a horrible game. That's 14. Where should the other 26 come from? The only other volume shooter on the team is Hawkins. We need 7-8 guys shooting 4+ a game to hit that magical number. Who can step it up?

Murphy and Murray. Jose should be good for 2-3. Herb 2-3.

I made a mistake. McCollum only shot 4 3pt. All the starters combined for 16 3pt, which just isn't enough. It should be like a 26/14 split from starters/bench, just based off minutes. Going to be hard to hit with Zion, Jones and Theis (or whoever plays the 5) shooting less than 8 combined..

If tweet fails to load, click here. This tells you the team is not listening to Willie.
He has to go, elevate Borego

Willie says shoot 40 threes a game then has lineup of Missi, Zion, Green, Herb and Jose.
We all know when the team is fully healthy Trey will still come off the bench.

Now compound that with ball hungry players that don't pass out of double-teams. I saw so many times CJ, BI and Zion pound the ball into a turnover or missed shot. The core of this team is the issue and it's their mindset and it won't change. Time to move on from all of them. Celtics have stars but look at how they move and share the ball. It's frustrating watching this team.

That data is all fricked up. Golden State and Chicago are averaging 46.8, and they listed Portland twice.

That’s the 3’s we shot in each of those games…

That makes much better sense.
CJ, BI, and Hawk combine for 18.8 attempts per game. Murray is probably good for 6 or so when he gets back. Another 9 from Murphy gets you to 33.8.
I just don't see Zion taking more than 2 a game if he even gets there. Theis is taking 1.5, but hasn't hit one yet. Herb takes about 3. That puts you right around 40, assuming we keep our volumes up elsewhere.

Yea some of our lineups are just baffling with Z on the floor. It's almost like he wants Z to have no spacing
We only have 3 true 3pt threats on this team (only 2 healthy right now), not great

I've tried explaining this to you guys before.
the teams shooting all these threes don't have their starting 4 and 5 taking 1-2 threes a game, on top of having backup bigs that don't shoot them either.
We are going to play 3 guys routinely at the 4 and 5 position that aren't going to shoot 3's, and the few times they, it's a win for the defense. Over 1/3 of the total minutes in a game will be played by someone who can't shoot 3's. And this is when we are fully healthy.
Murray/CJ/BI/Herb/Trey/Hawkins/Jose
That's where the 3's come from, and 2 of those guys are only goign to take 2-4 a game.
So we are expecting to basically take about 32-35 3's a game between Murray/CJ/BI/Trey/Hawkins. And honestly that's really not a hard ask if CJ/Trey/Hawk are putting up 24+ of them. BUt the problem with all of that is one one of those 5 guys doesn't play (or 2 like right now), we don't have a backup player that can even come close to replacing their production, nor do we want that backup player even shooting 3's b/c they suck.
a team with Zion in the lineup, and a 5 that doesn't shoot, is going to struggle to get to 40 3's no matter what. They'll do it from time to time, but there's no way they can average that when your starting 4 and your starting 5 and backup 5 won't shoot any 3's.

We had a lovely lineup of Missi, JRE, Zion, Green, Jose at one point early in the 4th quarter.
How the frick is that lineup supposed to even score, much less attempt a decent 3?
Sure would be nice to throw Matt Ryan out there. I'm sure he could have allowed just as many 3's on defense as the guys that actually played did last night, but at least he would have hit some of his own.

Still baffling to me how a team that wants to play small, fast and shoot a bunch of 3’s cuts a minimum salary player that is perfectly suited for that system

The Pels have a63% Rim/3 rate on offense and give up an 85% Rim/3 rate on defense.
That -21% gap is by far worst in the NBA. The 2nd worst is -12%.
That's coaching, scheming. We simply don't have it.
We definitely aren't built to shoot 40 3s per game, but we can't also not be built to dominate at the rim.

Could also play Reeves. He ain’t great defensively either but he can shoot.

Beating a dead horse but this wagon doesn't have a driver. Just don't have anyone 'Physically Capable' of running point. All you have to do is pressure the Pels and they fall apart. Same story different year.
BI, CJ, and sub-prime Husky can't drive pace. Question, when have you ever seen them penetrate and then back out, keeping their dribble? That's 101 for a point to break down a defense. I don't know what's up with Jose, but even at his best, that's not really his game.
Pels are going to have a tough time until DJM gets back ..... Just go get Elfrid, Fultz now. Pels have over two years worth of data that BI and CJ aren't points and Husky can't handle it until he gets in shape ..... kicker is once Husky gets in shape, he gets hurt.

couldn't agree more with this right here.
the pace at which they play more often than not is way too slow.

For sure, they certainly aren't getting up their 40 3s .....
If I'm Griff, I'd be working those phones.

Pels are how 27th in 3pt attempts at 30.0 attempts per game.
Some folks swore we'd take 40 per game and angry posted at those who disagreed

We've said almost every year on Willie we were going to do it and we never do.
1) He's not going to and he is part of the problem
2) Griff refuses to fill this team with shooters
