Who gets the social media accounts in the divorce?

Another example of the wife getting everything.

When Kat and Mike Stickler filed for divorce, their lawyers had a math problem.
Among the couple’s biggest assets was MikeAndKat, a channel on TikTok and YouTube in which they shared their lives with about four million followers. No one knew how to evenly split MikeAndKat between Mike and Kat.
“The judge was like, ‘what?’” Kat said last month during a podcast interview with Northwestern Mutual. “It’s a whole new terrain.”
Social media pays the bills for millions of Americans. But making a living online is more financially complicated than working a 9-to-5. Influencers need an audience to win advertising deals, and changing what they post risks turning followers away. Couples who showcase their love life online face an existential threat to the family business when they split.

Not social media but I was shocked to hear about the divorce fights over airline miles. My CEO recently got divorced and he cherished those miles more than his kids. Hearing about him having to pay her off for half their worth to keep them was hilarious. Everything I could do from laughing and calling him an idiot.

Millions???? How accurate is that?

You're supposed to earn and burn for a reason!
The catch his lawyer should have used is that the miles have value, and it's more advantageous to the ex wife to get the extra cash than sacrifice the money it may cost to transfer between accounts.
I had to explain to ex wife how 300k Marriott points, etc., were worth three nights in a Fairfield Inn with the way she books travel.

Seems like a decent dude. Never seemed like he wanted all the attention. His ex wife on the other hand is a different story.

There are a metric arse ton of people making 50-100k a year between their various accounts. Millions doesn't seem an unreasonable number.
It's a large part of the reason Gen Z had such a distorted view of what the average person makes.

I get there’s a handful of whores making sustainable money and prob some various successful ‘influencers’…but millions of people relying on social media for income seems a bit overblown. I’m glad I’m nearing retirement.
It will be interesting to see what the corporate world looks like in 20 years if true.

This says there are 31 million YouTube channels and only about 3.5% of them, or just over 1 million, make $500 or more per month. LINK
That's just YouTube monetization, there are probably people on Insta, OnlyFans, etc. making money that doesn't overlap with YouTube. I would say it is accurate to say social media content creator is the main job for millions of people. It's probably low to mid single digit millions which is a small percentage out of 330+ million people, but saying "millions" in this case is probably not inaccurate.

Your CEO is worried about airline miles? You should laugh at him.

How is it any different than any other joint business asset?

She has 11 million followers on TikTok. 2.4 million on Instagram.
I never like any of her content, but somehow she was all over my algorithm a couple years ago.

who fricking cares. this type of irrelevant shite is likely the reason for the divorce.

We're so fricked. People don't even realize it. It's comical how fricked we are.

Some lady found a rolled up rug in yard a month ago, we all tuned in and someone broke it done and she made I think over $50K from that and didn't have followers when it started. So it doesn't shock me that worldwide the number is really high with content creators.
I'm thinking now of even how many people are getting paid to be at the Taylor concert streaming it, etc. They aren't making a living, but they aren't doing it for free. One guy did it all over Europe.
