For those of you who have one; What is reasonable cost for a $1M umbrella policy
I understand factors such as how many boats, atv's, etc you have will affect the cost.
Mine has gone up to $1600 a year. Thinking this is unreasonable.

My policy is to stash umbrellas everywhere because you never know when you could need one all the sudden. Car, house, work, all need umbrellas.
The real hard thing to manage though is when you bring your umbrella in from the car and forget to bring it back out to your car later. That’s an easy way to end up getting soaked from an unexpected shower

I have one in my truck, but I never use it.

For 1mm should be under $1000. May depend on who you have driving and living in your household also.

Breh, it hasn’t rained here in more than a month. I think you’ll be just fine without one.

I’m staunchly against umbrellas. If it’s raining out, I’m either wearing a rain coat or getting wet. Not carrying some stick around all day because of wittle water like a homo.

The comment about young drivers is true. I had one for several years that was always $400-600ish. After the first kid moved to college it jumped $1600 to $2k. I canceled our policy at that point.

My bro-in-law is an insurance guy. He talked me into one 15 years ago. It's 3 million aggregate and "follows" me everywhere I go to include my property, etc. I am paying less than $700 per year for it.
Served on a private school board for 10 years, was a trustee of the board so I was one of 5 people sued by a vindictive employee we let go for theft. The umbrella kicked in and covered my legal fees with a very good attorney. That suit fell apart because it was BS to begin with. Always thought I was pissing away money with that policy until I saw how fast a POS and unscrupulous attorney could tie you up in court for absolute horse shite. If you have anything you don't want to lose - it's not a bad idea.

Mine was less than $1,000 this policy year.

I never use umbrellas. I would rather walk through the rain than deal with one.

mine is $616. anyone that has anything is taking a huge risk if they have no umbrella.

Two things:
1. Extremely cheap if not extended to Uninsured Motorist. You have to get this. In LA your prices will soar.
2. RLI is $1,143 for the year. State Farm is $1,380 for the year. I have both policies. Need to cancel SF.
That's LA rates. Anything less in LA and I'd be skeptical if it includes uninsured motorist.

If I had one I wouldn't post about it here. I'm superstitious that way

Two hundred to five hundred dollars a year.

Same here. Like jewelry riders (which cost next to nothing and are definitely worth it), PUPs are usually just a few hundred bucks as an add on, even if you have a pool.

I live in AL with one property, two cars.
No toys or rentals.

Ours with Safeco jumped to $800.
Went with RLI for $250.
