Grandparents have one about the same age.
Works just like a charm.
That Chinese crap don’t work anymore

That’s the truth…the only consumable that I can think of that lasts longer than it used to are automobiles. When I was young we were lucky to get 100,000 miles on a vehicle. My current truck just turned over 300,000e

They're never gonna catch it now.

Fortunately, all of my fridges have lasted. Now the bells and whistles on it, on the other hand, always seem to poop out.
Now my washers and dryers...

We have 2 fridges in our office/warehouse and one is similar to that. Pulling on the latch to close it is weird but it runs great.

The old stuff wouldn’t pass muster under a lot of stupid environmental regs.
I had a gas fridge from the 30s in my old house and other really old shite that was built like a tank.

Who cares? Seriously, who cares? Have fun manually defrosting that old energy eater that doesn't maintain consistent temperature. Also, the freezer may hold two pints of ice cream and two ice trays. Mechanical things break. Except for the board and compressor, most repair parts on modern refrigerators are fairly inexpensive. Even those two items are inexpensive compared to a new one. Innovation brings improvements. I'll enjoy my self defrosting, water dispensing, crushed ice for margaritas making, veggies drawer, meat drawer, perfect temperature maintaining modern refrigerator.
I defrosted our refrigerator and filled enough ice trays growing up to know I don't ever want that again. By the way, you can still buy a bare bones one just like that one in the video.

Here ya go. Exact same thing sitting at your local HD. You won't buy it though. It won't break. There's nothing to break. $279...never buy another fridge ever. Hate yourself everyday for buying it.
It will last longer than you.

If a refrigerator is over 20 years old, it’s costing you money due to inefficiency.

I remember GE was known in the past for quality. I wonder if their modern products stand up. Or have the unions and cheap China parts knocked their durability.

The ice-maker is the weak link in any refrigerator. The best fridge I ever had was a GE.
Something like this one.

My GE garage fridge looks just like that, 20 years old changed the mother board several years ago still running like a champ. I clean the compressor / coils twice a year to keep the dust off. Never used the ice maker function. It was $1,600 when bought at Lowes.
Our parents got by with just one fridge, having two is far more convenient for storing bulk grocery items and yearly hunting & fishing harvests. Couldn’t do without it.

Our washer, dryer, fridge and deep freeze are all over 30 years old, still working fine.
I've had to do a couple of repairs on the washer and dryer over the years and replace the door gaskets on the fridge and deep freeze.
I bought all of them at the same time from Sear's and Roebuck.
I bought a microwave at about the same time from the same store, it gave up the ghost about 4 years ago.

I’ve got a Montgomery Ward freezer that was made in 1984. It’s still running strong!

How are they supposed to continuously sell more and more if things don't break long before they should.

My parents house has one almost identical and it's still running as well
