The play calling all season has not been good and against Ole Miss was no different. Is it possible Sloan could improve with more games under his belt as a play caller? Bc so far I’m not impressed.

LSU is 9th in the country in offensive efficiency

Its QB leads the toughest conference in football in TD passes

LSU’s OLine has struggled all season in run blocking and lacks WR depth and explosiveness from the position

Like dude, the other schools pay and have players on scholarships too

2023 and 2019 are going to be the outliers; the shite it ain’t that easy

My only gripe was on some of the 3rd and under 10 calls throughout game when all they needed was 6 yards for a first they chunking down the field

Get the first down
You have one of the best te in the country
That should be an easy call

Has been a sore spot, especially in the first half of most games this year.
And people wonder why we start slow….
Ask Sloan.

Do you think the play call says who to throw the ball too? Like come on bro. That's Nuss making bad decisions, and not on Sloan.

Everyone saw the pitch on 4th down and said bad play call, but yall all missed the shovel pass that was wide open that Nuss missed.

Imo some of this is on Nuss not just taking the easy 7yd scramble. When he starts doing that, this offense will be next level.

He needs to disguise the run better. It became so obvious what we were running and we actually benefited from it on a play action TD pass.

The main problem right now is our lack of run game.

There’s no way to know what the play call was

Wasn’t it reported today that Anderson’s TD he was 3rd in the progression?

So on 4th and 5 from the 25, Nuss throws it into the end zone.

He does have questionable calls occasionally, but a lot of the issues has been due to player execution, whether it be poor run blocking or Nuss missing wide open guys.

My guess is that Kelly is scripting the first few drives, which is why we are only throwing to the sidelines in the 1st Q. Once we get down by 10 or more, the playbook changes and we are wide open.

Sloan will be really aggressive when the cuffs are off.

Sloan does nothing to loosen up the defense. Need some jet sweeps and a few more wrinkles. Run game is too predictable

I really think that if they just tell Nuss to run when it’s there, this will cure a lot of our issues with the oline and running game looking subpar. If Nuss took off for 10 yards 2-3 times a game, the running game will open up… the deep passing game has been a bit tough but teams know we are a threat to try it

It is a tough gig. There are a lot of things to consider. Overall, our offense is scoring points, so that's a big positive. I will say that the 4th and 2 call was atrocious. Not sure if someone asked about that at the press conference, but that was coaching working against us there.

The play calling is pretty vanilla though with all things considered. We could use just a little more creativity when the D seems to be all over us like they were in the 1st half of the game.

Remember when we would have absolutely killed to have an offense that was this good? That was really not long ago at all, and we endured that for years.

Now we have people complaining about one of the top offenses in the nation, because it isn't an all-time great offense like we witnessed twice recently.

That 4th down to Jackson up the middle, out of the shotgun was pure unadulterated horse shite.

Sloan is not good. Plays are predictable and unimaginative.

The OP is still correct regardless. Play calling has been iffy all year. We can have a good, productive quarterback and still have some questionable play calling. Those two things are not mutually exclusive.

There’s been lots of headscratchers. That 4th and 1 play with big Kaleb Jackson running sideways to the sideline was a great example. Just doesn’t make any sense and doesn’t utilize the talent properly.

Sloan’s offense just put up 421 on the #16 defense in the country who was averaging 290 per game.

Have you missed that it was an option play? Nuss could hand it off or make a shovel pass to Zavion. Kelly is chewing him out as soon as he gets to the sideline.

Nuss made a bad read.
