I look at this board almost daily and somehow don’t remember ever seeing this kid pop up. When was the last time LA had a O-line prospect this highly ranked?

Lance Heard finished his cycle knocking on the door of the top 10 in his class overall. Will Campbell wasn't quite as highly ranked as Brown or Heard, but he was at least in the 5* range as well. So it's not like we haven't had elite OL prospects come through the state recently.

The actual answer to this is probably La'el Collins, who was #3 in his class by both 247 and composite (which was saying a lot, since the two guys ahead of him--jadeveon clowney and cyrus kouandijo--were considered pretty generational coming out of HS, iirc).

When was the last time an IOL was ranked that high (#5)? I can't find one in the top 20 in the last 10 years.

You look at a frame, can he add weight? Kids now day, eat fast food, pizza, burgers, etc. Once they get on a weight program, the proper nutrition, they develop. One thing Kelly and Coach Davis has done, player evaluation and player development. This will continue. Kelly wants players to be here for 3,4 and 5 years, get in his system.

There was a stat put up during the Texas OU game about the average weight of the linemen from Texas from prior to and after Sark took over. He has increased the average weight of the linemen by 20lbs. That may not seem like a lot, but you can definitely see how it plays into on field results.

While winning in the trenches isn't a new concept it's great to see our lines making the same strides. Offensive line more than d line atm, but that's why Bo was hired. Hats off to Davis for all the work he has done recruiting the right guys to make our offense shine.
