Saw Johnny Marr last week in New Orleans. Still riding that high. Looking for the board’s opinion on this band. I wish they were more popular in the States. Weirdly, they seem to be more popular among the younger generation in the US than they were in their own time because of TikTok. Brilliant band.

Welcome to the party, pal!
Seriously, Meat is Murder is one of my favorite mid-80s alternative bands. Guitar and bass are incredible.

Johnny Marr rocked. Saw him in Houston and put on a great show.

Huge fan. They were a magical, hugely influential band. Almost everything that they put out was phenomenal. Almost no filler anywhere in any of their four studio albums. Hell, their B-sides could have easily passed as single releases.

Huge fan; wish i could have seen this tour.. James is a great band too. Saw them in the mid 90s and was blown away by their live show.

One of my all time favorite bands. Have bought tickets to see morrissey twice and both shows were cancelled

They were extremely popular in the states in the 80s. They broke up fairly early in their careers though which hurt their popularity because there were no more albums or tours.
Marr and Morrissey are both on separate tours and they both sing a lot of Smith's songs.

How Soon is Now? is one of my favorites when wearing headphones.

Despite that popularity, the largest venues they ever played here in the states were only about 3-4 thousand.

I feel fortunate to have seen him when he headlined Cruel World a couple of years ago in Pasadena.

My top 10 favorite songs by The Smiths (in no particular order):
What Difference Does It Make?
How Soon Is Now?
This Charming Man
There is a Light that Never Goes Out
Well I Wonder
Bigmouth Strikes Again
That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore
The Queen is Dead
I Know It’s Over
Rubber Ring

Just a 60 second cursory venue search shows this to be untrue. They played very few shows in the United States, and actually not that many shows anywhere, but they played University of Colorado Events Center (11,064 capacity), Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre (16,085 capacity), and the Greek Theatre in Berkely (8500 capacity).

My wife and I saw Morrissey at the Aragon Ballroom back in '09. Great venue to watch a show.
Marr was the man though! Great youtube video out there with him and his Ricke. How he got the sound he wanted was fun to watch.
Marr and James playing the Riviera Theatre this Thursday. Unfortunately, I cannot go...sucks.

Thanks for the correction. I should have said most of the venues.
