BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A judge sentenced Walter Andrew Brister IV, the son of a former NFL player “Bubby” Brister in connection to the hit-and-run crash that killed a man walking on Ben Hur Road near LSU back in 2022.

Judge William Jorden sentenced Brister to three years of probation to include 250 hours of community service. Half of his community service hours must be spent on litter detail, the judge said. He was also ordered to complete a driver improvement program, speak to groups about the dangers of drinking and driving, and refrain from all alcohol and narcotics.

If Brister fails to complete the terms of his probation, he will face 10 years in prison, the judge said.

Brister appeared before the judge to learn his sentence Friday, October 11. He pleaded guilty to the charge of felony hit-and-run in September 2024. While pleading guilty, Brister addressed the court and apologized for his actions.

How the frick do you run over a person and kill him, leave the scene without even calling for help then turn yourself in days later and only get probation? Christ this is messed up.

I *heard the person he hit was also drunk and in the middle of the road at night. Not condoning what the guy did, or the weak as sentence he received, but if that was indeed the case it my have been a factor in the sentence.

Money talks and bullshite walks.

Especially in Louisiana when it comes to Lawyers and Courts.

Bottom line it was an accident, albeit a terrible one but there's no intent.

Brister threw a 4 hitter against my High School baseball team in the Quarterfinals back in the day.

Dude was a great baseball prospect too.

I'll be looking for the civil outcome. Hopefully this kid has to pay the victim's children until they're ready to retire.

We now live in a post-accountability society for the Elites, the rich, & the poor. Only the middle class is held accountable for anything.
