I posted this on the travel board, but I fear there is not much traffic on that board, and I'm looking for answers on the quick:

I decided just a few days ago to come to the game this weekend, and about the only hotel I could find was the Courtyard Marriott Acadian Centre. No big deal - I typically stay at Marriott properties and could use points so it would be free.

This morning I received the message in italics below, and a few things I've bolded below caught my attention. Is there something I need to know? The email mentions: All extended stay guestrooms will be cleaned after every 6th Night from check-in. Are they housing illegals? A half-way house? Why do they make it a point to say they are "...committed to deliver the Marriott Bonvoy benefits for your membership level?"

Perhaps the most alarming part of the email appears toward the end beginning with "Moments like these..." Is it possible they are housing evacuees from Milton? Of course, that would not be an issue at all compared to housing illegals.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated so I can make alternate arrangements if necessary.

Yeah man they're totally housing illegal aliens and this is definitely the correct board. DUMBASS!

It's just sad that some people have their heads buried so deep into politics that even a courtesy email from a hotel makes them think about illegal aliens.

Illegal aliens isn’t where that message took me. I stayed there 5 years ago and it was a normal boring Courtyard Marriott. It’s either really dated or recently remodeled. Either way it should be fine

Are you stupid or have you never stayed in a hotel before?

This is common practice for extended stays.

It's disgusting...I last had a room there for I believe the Florida game last year, last minute only place I could find and was LSU family day, so rooms scarce Got there, room was dank, halls smelled of skunky weed, roach running around room- no thanks. I've got good Bonvoy status, screw that. Went to the desk, told the apathetic desk worker no thanks. Employee said well you're on the hook and I said ok, check me out and walked. Immediately emailed the manager, copied Bonvoy CS and called the Watermark, Ren and Marriott on Corporate to see if had any cancels, got a room at the Watermark.

To credit of Marriott, got prompt responses. Better from corporate than management at the property. Ended up getting charged for one of the nights at the Courtyard, but got two night credit from Marriott, so came out ok, but that place is pure arse if you ask me.

Only in about 50 different countries - 6 in 2024 alone.

2002 was the last time I've stayed in a hotel for more than 4 straight nights so I don't really concern myself with housekeeping routines.

The hotel is full of Somalians so they should be able to help you select a good wine pairing for your meal

At the beginning of my post, I stated that I posted it first on the Travel Board, but I can't imagine that board gets much traffic comared to the Rant.

Politics has nothing to do with it. I just don't want to get stuck at a place that's housing a bunch of illegal immigrants.

when the pandemic hit, the hotels pretty much all adopted that cleaning routine - to minimize everything, but are willing to clean it outside of those days if requested.

since the pandemic ending, they never really reverted that back.

in answer to your question OP, it is normal

Maybe...JUST MAYBE...it's a rule they implement so that if you are staying for a week or more, you have to let them in your place every 6 days so that they can make sure you aren't trashing the place.

I'm surprised it's every 6th night. It honestly should be every 3rd or so for extended stay. I've done alot of extended stays in my work life, and while I like my privacy, I'd take my Do Not Disturb tag off my door every 2nd or 3rd night.

Hotels used Covid as an excuse to cut costs by reducing housekeeping. We, the traveling public, did not fight back, so we are stuck with paying more for less service.

How would you go from extended stay guests to illegal immigrants?

That’s not a natural conclusion to come to.

I hear that Kamala is flying in lots of Haitians to the LSU game this weekend, and they’re going to be doing the tailgating and cooking for all of us. They must be staying where you’re staying.

Wow.. last time i stayed there circa 3 or 4 years ago, the rooms were dated and tired-looking , but i figured they’d updated/remodeled since then.. guess not .. ordinarily the cockroach thing woulda been the deal-breaker for me, but i gotta admit, i recently stayed at a different Marriott property and there was a cockroach crawling around behind the headboard.. typically i would have looked for other accommodations but it was a big event and everything was sold out, so for the first time in my traveling career i borrowed a can of Raid form the front desk and hoped for the best .

I appreciate your sincere feedback, Big Papi. Easy to see there are pricks on every Board around here.

I know the CY is not optimum, but that's all they had last minute. I'm sure it's outdated, musty, and stale. But it will suffice as long as it operates as a normal Marriott property.
