So you travel so much that you don’t realize that every Courtyard, Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, etc has people that stay there as extended stay? The people who stay are normally workers from out of town. Hell in 2021 I had to work out of town and stayed in a hotel for 200 days.

The poor people that stay long term typically stay in Extended Stay America or OYO were the extended stay rate is $35-$40/day.

You are reading things that aren't there. Most of the verbiage is typical of extended-stay hotel practices. They are designed for folks who will be on location for job purposes, typically, and usually for weeks or even months hence the once-every-seven-day housekeeping.

The "moments like these" phrasing is probably a tie in to the Marriot Bonvoy Moments program.

Hmm, you seem pretty concerned by it.

Reads to me like it’s becoming more of an extended stay property, probably pretty run down

95% of my hotel stays are international. But I read all the time that more reputable chains in the US are housing illegals. I haven't been to BR in 5 years so how am I to know unless I ask?

It's amazing how my simple effort to get a heads up on a potentially unpleasant situation can bring so many pricks out of the woodwork..

It’s amazing to me how you immediately jump to “they must be housing illegals” when you received a general form letter. Seems like you are the prick and you have some serious underlying issues that you may need to seek professional help to work through.

Go to trip advisor and read recent reviews

My wife has saved us from staying at a couple rough places over the years by seeing what people have said on trip advisor

I appreciate your response. Maybe I am reading a little much into it. I had never received what appears to be a handtyped welcome message from a hotel before. You don't them see in my OP, but some of the bullet points in the email have color-coded highlights. Just seemed strange.

I live less than a mile from this hotel and I forgot it existed. You should be safe and OK, especially as rates for an LSU game probably keep out the riff raff.

ETA: I will drive by later on for you and give you a report.

Amazing how many of you don't know the difference between an "Extended Stay Hotel", like OYO or Extended Stay America and having an "extended stay" (that means a long one) at a regular hotel. Tons of people stay long periods of time for work, because they are displaced from a storm (I lived in a Residence Inn for 3 months after the 21 Freeze in Houston), or other reasons. A Marriott Courtyard is not an extended stay property.

At the beginning of my post, I stated that I posted it first on the Travel Board, but I can't imagine that board gets much traffic comared to the Rant.
You didn't get a response because nobody gives a shite, not because of light traffic on the Travel Board.

The “Moments like these” would’ve given me pause as well, but it makes sense in light of this:

You bet. I don't think you are gonna get bushwhacked there and a roach or two ain't gonna kill you. It'll make you feel better about the next place you stay, lol.

It’s because they don’t want anyone “establishing residency” at the hotel. I’ve both worked and stayed in hotels during disasters.
