Why do people not like Dave Ramsey?

Things I like about DR's message:
He tells it like it is. Credit for people who don't know how to use it is a bad thing. His investing advice is simple for people who do not want to get into the nuances of investing.
Bottom line: if you are upside down on your net worth, you will do well to follow his advice even if you only do about 50-75% of it.
After my divorce about 20 years ago, I followed his program to the letter. Got out of about $20k in debt and now my net worth is fairly high for my age (I'm 55) -- most of it due to his advice.
Things I don't like:
I'm not a Christian, so I'm sometimes not a fan of his religious messaging. I do see Christianity as a great thing, I have no problem with general getting the word out about it. I feel it's only great when you apply the principals of it to yourself but not to others. Still, honestly, I don't see why this would be a good enough reason to avoid him and his financial advice.
I notice he gets a lot of hate these days and I don't understand it. Maybe I'm missing something that he's done.

His advice is really wise for the most part. But I’ve always thought he was an arrogant jerk.

He gives good advice for simpletons that is -EV with even the slightest bit of intelligence/discipline.
Good advice to get out of holes but bad advice at maximizing your wealth growth thereafter.

I like him just fine.
I like his daughter better.
I agree with most of his suggestions. Especially 20% down on mortgage. But if most people wait til they can afford a 15yr they'll never get a home. 30yr is fine as long as the value keeps going up.

He’s good at bringing discussion about finances to everyday people - but his aversion to debt isn’t for everyone.
One particular point - he thinks you should save up to put at least 20% down on a home. That isn’t realistic for a first time buyer and ignores the cost of renting as an alternative.

Can't they even acknowledge how low the cost of credit would be if irresponsible debtors were not involved?

Some of those clips..
You wonder how people let their situations get so bad
And it makes me feel better about my own personal situation

Caleb Hammer is a lot better at getting into the details of people whose personal financial train is heading off the tracks.

I’ve heard financial advisors say they would never take his investing advice.
They’re never critical of his advice to get people out of being upside down.
i.e a strategy for a couch to 5k is wildly different than your strategy for setting a PR in a 5k.

Because we have soft people like this. Same as Trump.

Because his program is primarily based in Christian faith.

The problem is Dave is arrogant and wrong on a lot of stuff. It's not a good look.

I didn't know if he was involved in some kind of political or scandalous thing that people didn't like or not.
Yeah I can see how some might think of him as arrogant. He has strong convictions. I don't 100% agree with them but respect that he expresses them and is not a phony.

But if you follow his program, that isn't a hard thing to do at all.

Ramsey comes across as a self righteous pompous a-hole. His monetary advice maybe sound, but leave the religious bs and criticism of people has he no idea about at the curb.

Maybe it has to do with giving outdated advice and not understanding the whole situation, while preaching that it can be done.
Oh, go flip hamburgers. Oh, just pick up a side gig. Oh, just go get more education, but don't you dare take out a loan for it.
All these little nuisances don't really help anyone.

He's certainly helped me and my wife quite a bit.
