"We got this one in the bag so let's leave and beat traffic..."

I have heard/seen this since going to games in Tiger Stadium as a kid and still prevalent today. Just wondering why this mindset is still prevalent at LSU? Thought this was all stadiums years ago, but decades later after having the chance to attend games a dozens of other stadiums you don't see it nearly as bad as LSU?
Some will say it's the traffic, but BR's post-game traffic is NO worse than other stadiums. Still don't get it.

Hard to believe but I guess I have to take your word for it.

Lsu post game traffic is much worse than most stadium traffic. Tiger stadium is way too big for baton rouge's infrastructure, it's also too far from the interstate.

Wrong.

This is not a true statement. I’ve been to most of the other SEC venues and we are in a special class of post game departure time.

not really
Oxford and Tuscaloosa are gridlocked after games if you are trying to leave from inside of campus

How many times were you trying to leave to get out of town or drive to somewhere in the city compared to walking to bars or your hotel?

Just normal everyday traffic in BR is worse than probably any other similar-sized college city in the country. So it would be hard to believe game traffic wouldn’t also be a worse cluster than just about anywhere else.

Some of it is that traditionally we have predominantly night games and pull fans from all over the state.
Anecdotally I know people who hardly ever book a hotel or sometimes try once the game time is announced as night game and that’s too late. Then they have a couple hours or longer drive to follow.
Thus rather than see the clock hit 0 they get moving.

LSU’s traffic is a special case due to where the stadium is located, and its size. Besides the 100k, we have an additional large group of people who tailgate around DV. Not to mention having one of the largest rivers in the country to its west which limits departure routes, the interstate being miles away from access..it’s just a clusterfrick.

I don't go to games because of the traffic. I just know it is what it is and nothing will be done to mitigate the issue. It does suck to be stuck in traffic but post game radio or streaming other games helps mitigate that.

Well, my nephew drove all the way back to Houston so he probably did leave early. Alot drive home to Shreveport, Lafayette or even Lake charles because you can't get hotel rooms. Me, I stay to the last play but that's just me. We've seen alot of great wins in the last few minutes of the game.

BRs post game traffic is without a doubt MUCH worse than other similar sized venues.
I was at the game on Saturday. So many people left before the game ended that I stayed until 0:00 and avoided the traffic that way.

For guys that are driving over an hour and a half or more to attend the game I can absolutely see the reasoning behind wanting to beat traffic. It’s absolutely a Sunday killer to be getting back to your house at 2 am when any reasonable amount of traffic flow can have you back at 11 pm.

I left very late in the 4th and I didn’t get home until 1:30 and had to be at work at 7.

Yall ever tried leaving Auburn, AL after a big LSU-Auburn game?
Posted on 9/30/24 at 7:58 am to Tdubs7
Man, with all these “I stay until the final whistle” people coming out of the woodworks, it’s amazing the stadium empties out so much.

One way to help traffic that is not being done is to have parking lots in multiple locations, and bus a mass amount of people in and out far past the pinch points to have many less cars on campus.
Reasons against it. First and foremost that’s a double cost to LSU, bc they would lose parking revenue, and be expected to foot the bill for the transportation. Secondly, it would potentially mean less tailgating which is something we’re known for.

You say that, but you've obviously not attended away games too often. I sat in the parking lot in Columbia a few weeks ago for 3 hours trying to get out of there. We had ran out of alcohol before kickoff. Rookie move, I know, but we were also in a rental car and couldn't bring back extras home on the plane. Starkville and Oxford are pretty bad too. It's not traffic to blame, it's the fact that we've been a winning program for 20 years. Fans are spoiled on that and don't remeber how hungry our fanbase was back in the early 2000's when we actually stayed all game. I also think you can blame the cost of everything, concessions etc.
