Did you have your kids watch the Rocky movies in order?

I feel like Rocky 1, although a great movie, might be too much of a drama for my kids. When I was a kid I started with Rocky 2 so was thinking of starting there. Thoughts?

Sort of required to understand Rocky....and his growth. I think you can pop in Rambo 3 and be okay with just an action movie....no Adrian two-movie explanation.

there is an interesting evolution of the Rocky franchise from drama about a boxer to a full on sports franchise.

The rape scene might be a little much.

My son was amazed that he beat The Russian on the first try.

I agree with you that Rocky might be a little boring for them due to the heavier dramatic emphasis.

But in no way can you skip 2. The "win, win" "well what are we waiting for?!" montage is one of my favorite scenes ever in any movie and I still remember the first time I saw that scene as a kid.

Me and my 7 year old are thru 1-5 over the past 2 months, in order. Glued to the screen for 1-4, during five he kept asking when was Rocky going to fight.

Watch them in order…it’s the best way

My kids are still upset about Apollo. But they were all feeling the freedom vibes when Rocky ended the Cold War.

Well Rocky is a great movie. A fantastic movie even.

The others are fun and entertaining. Not great.

I think the question though is, how to introduce it to kids.

When Rocky came out when I was a kid, everyone was talking about it. So sure, I wanted to see it and was willing to wait through the “slow parts” to get to the fight.

Today’s kids ain’t talking about Rocky. It’s something their parents and grandparents like. So I think you have to start with a Rocky movie that will most appeal to kids.

I’d say that’s Rocky III. If they are absolutely hooked, then go to Rocky….but more than likely go with Rocky IV second. Then they’ll for sure be hooked. At that point, they care about Rocky and Apollo. Let them see the original and Rocky II.

Follow it up with Rocky Balboa and Creed.
