I completed the “in-stadium” Survey & emailed the athletic department, but wanted to see if anybody else noticed this, as I know many people surrounding me did.

The new LED screens were consistently switched to a split of on-field-activity coupled with "bring the noise/get loud" - removing all game related content. There were multiple times I never knew the down, yards to go, and the yard line the ball spotted on, due to this not being shown on the screen. It was almost always immediately removed for the "get loud/bring the noise" - there is plenty of room to show this info. It's exceptionally frustrating for fans who try to keep up with the game. It is the type of thing that frustrates fans to the point of staying home and watching on TV.

Hopefully this feedback can find its way to the right personnel, since it seems like a relatively simple fix. The screens are large enough for everything to be displayed.

ETA: reply from Athletic Dept.

“ Frank,

Thank you for completing the experience survey and for taking the time to email us. The stadium enhancements are providing new opportunities for us to boost the fan experience and we appreciate the feedback on the changes. The game information that you referenced is displayed at all times on the ribbon board in the SE and SW corners of the stadium, which are visible to a majority of the stadium.

The full screen takeover on the north board is common practice around college athletics and the NFL. It only occurs on significant plays when LSU is on defense and take place for approximately 8 seconds. As soon as the center puts his hand on the ball, the board will return to a live shot with the game information. Our marketing team uses the full board capabilities depending on the rhythm of the game with the goal to engage our fans to show our opponents why Death Valley is a special place.

Thank you for your support of LSU Football and for making the experience in Tiger Stadium unmatched for our football team - Geaux Tigers!”

Agreed, it shows the play and time left, but not down and distance

I did find myself looking to the scoreboard for yards to go, etc when we were on defense only to find "GET LOUD" on both sides of the live video.

Small gripe but noticeable

I wonder if this some mutual plan amongst stadiums. At the kickoff game in Vegas they didn't show a single replay of any plays that were under review.

Well, somebody pay attention for me this weekend as I won’t there.

But here’s the reply I got:

3 games in and I can’t help but think the new screen doesn’t even feel bigger.

They just load it with other shite and the main section for the play seems smaller somehow.

Huge mess up.

I couldn't find the play time remaining clock except for in usual end zone placement. Didn't;t they used to put the time remainiing on the screens, as well? I did find the screens detracted from the game experience. Absolutely TOO much going on!!

This is what I was saying when they first released the renderings. The way the screen is shaped and utilized does not make it seem like a big upgrade over the old verstion. Should have been a more vertical aspect ratio similar to a TV profile rather than a long, skinny screen with the sides being useless for replays, videos, etc

This thread is evidence that people will complain about anything, especially things they have no expertise in, no understanding of, no appreciation of reality, and no constraints to deal with.

This thread is also evidence that people are absolutely helpless when it comes to the in-stadium experience. I really can't even imagine talking to people around me and whining about not having the down and distance on a screen. Look at the field and the other scoreboards if you can't keep up.
