Why do IRS employees need a union? Who do they “bargain” against? Is there a contract?

Kamala has announced the union has endorsed her.

It got me thinking:

The ENTIRE REASON unions in the private sector exist is to make sure the owners of companies do not gain unjust profit via low wages or poor working conditions. For 100+ years, this is what unions were. They were workers bargaining with earners of profit/capitalists.

There is no “owner” of the Internal Revenue Service who makes a profit. What is there to bargain for and who exactly are the IRS unions bargaining against? The IRS doesn’t even “earn” a profit that can be divided between IRS workers and some “owner”, because there is no owner.

So, in the absence of an owner and in the absence of profit, what does the IRS union do? What is its function?

Should be illegal for public sector jobs to have a union

Private sector unions are one thing, but public sector unions should not be allowed. Tax consumers have no right to organize.

IRS is funded by taxpayers. The taxpayers' money is being used support one side in a presidential election. Hmmm

Hey look, you’re way out of line here. These people are public servants just like government school teachers and countless others who work in government agencies.

They’re pouring their hearts out and sacrificing their own families by earning a low wage just to serve the people, it’s their passion so please show some respect.

Government unions make no sense. Union members get no extra benefits over non-union employees.

To answer your question, they mostly exist to get representation for members facing disciplinary action or being fired.

The people who pay their salaries. They honestly see taxpayers as ignorant. Much like DC.

My plan:
Consumption tax.
No more income tax.
No more IRS.
No more IRS employees union.

Government worker unions only benefit the unions.

Can they please go on a prolonged strike. Not a fan of government unions but if their union would tell them to strike, I would be very supportive....especially if they could get a PATCO result.

If the Dems ever succeed in packing the Supreme Court with about a dozen new judges then I think the SC will demand union status for more pay and smaller case load.

But... Nobody gets fired from ABC agencies, even without unions...

Wasn't their a SCOTUS case on this issue. The argument was that the govt could not withhold and send unions the union dues. I do not recall the decision though.
