This is my favorite… what’s yours?
Thanks to everyone posting. Some I’ve heard but there’s some I haven’t and enjoyed listening and learning.

Probably the version the Dead did in Nassau Colliseum when Branford Marsalis sat in with them for most of a show in 1990.

I play those 3 chords better than anyone else.
Sometimes I even play it backwards.

Depending on my mood that’s a good on too.

Not one person said this?
quote:
Zevon began recording the album shortly after he was diagnosed with inoperable pleural mesothelioma (a cancer of the lining of the lung), and it was released just two weeks before his death on September 7, 2003.

Guns 'n' Rose's version would be an infinity times better without that stupid telephone dial tone thing being put in there for no reason whatever.

quote:There are so many versions but that 20 minute version you posted in the OP is probably my favorite super slow version. It was the version that really hit me hard with the words and Jerry's slow play on the lead is simply emotionally incredible.

However I was at this Dead & Co show on 05/30/24 and they did this "return to Earth from space" and close the show right before the encore tribute to Bill Walton. Worth a listen even with the cell phone audio.
Live... they had the audience mesmerized and then came back to honor Bill Walton as this was the first show after his death. The vid of Fire on the Mountain is below as well...

Saw a video of John Daly visiting a hospital for children with cancer.
The dumbass plays Knocking on Heavens Door - apparently it's the only song he knows
