Being hit with a lot of nostalgia this week

Dear Facebook,
I turn 31 this week and have really been hit hard with wanting to be 19-21ish again, I suppose this is somewhat normal around a birthday. Music, seeing old girlfriends, all of it is sending me back there.
I'm not sure what I miss about it so much. On paper, everything is MUCH better in my life now, financially, emotionally, relationships, etc. It makes no sense.
My coping mechanism is to remember that when I'm 41, I'll be wishing for 31 again. A lot of weird feelings that I'm experiencing for the first times in my life, I suppose this is the beginning of getting old.

It's normal to look back at various eras of your life fondly. It's an indication you're living a good life and a way to signify growth.

"I still remember, when 30 was old"
I love that line

Nah, you'll still be wishing for 21.
I turn 40 next month and it really hit me like a ton of bricks out of nowhere the other night. I kept thinking that if I live to be my grandfather's age (81), my life is halfway over. And that's like best case scenario. I've been dwelling on that for the past couple days and I'm really having a tough time right now wrapping my head around the end.

Look forward, not backwards. Don’t like how the future looks? Change it.

Those hangovers only get worse. That's all I got for you

For sixty year olds, it's basically undeniable there are far more days in the rear view mirror than the windshield.
Gentlemen should stay squared away at all times just in case.

Wait until you get older and the loved ones start falling. It gets worse.

This doesn’t seem like much advice, but it is. Heed the warning.

Just wait til you turn 51 if you think 31 is tough.

That's the dumb thing, my life is great right now, I couldn't really ask for anything else. I'm very thankful for that, I suppose it's just some innate longing for youth.

I’m 44 and would love to be 31 again. But for me, I have nostalgia about my kids when they were little. That has replaced any nostalgia for my own past.

I've already lost a parent and two grandparents.
It's always struck me as rather depressing that if you live long enough, everyone you've known that was older than you will be dead.

Imagine how my 92 year old Aunt feels. I talked to her the other day and she commented that she has to renew her drivers license her next birthday early next year and how it will be her last time to renew.

Not to salt a wound, but you’re at the age where it feels like someone hits the fast forward button on your life. You’ll wake up tomorrow being 41 and be like WTF?

I just turned 50 this year. Physically, mentally, and sexually, I still get around great.
Looking back, I would've taken many more career risks in my 20's and 30's before having kids.
