What Urban Legends have you heard in various forms since your childhood?

I have heard the food stamp people getting into a fancy car so many times in my life it's ridiculous.
I wonder why yall keep making up stories like this?
I know it happens. I know there are people on food stamps that don't financially need them.
But what satisfaction does it give yall to keep making up these stories in various renditions over and over?

I feel like if you grew up pretty much anywhere in America in the 80s/90s every single town had their own variations of all these things.
