Coaches Committee meeting baseball 9/16

I arrived early and checked out the new additions to the box, but I will let Classy Doge give you guys the low down on the additions.
Milam, Braswell, Dickinson and I believe Hogg were taking gtounders at SS. Milam seems to have added more weight and muscle, I'm expecting a really big year from him. He could see more time at SS next year but I believe Braswell is still the front runner there. Hogg looked good but Dickinson doesn't seem to be there yet. Small sample size for sure but he had a few errors.
Three lefties were taking batting practice but I couldn't identify them. The scoreboard posted exit velocity and angle after every bat. Jared Jones hit 114 on exit velocity earlier that day according to Jay.
Jay introduced 3 freshmen and 3 portal players. Casan Evans- Jay had as top pitcher in Tx and a player that will be ready to contribute early. Cade Arrambide- for a guy that has big power, his frame isn't filled out yet. He still has some room to grow. Mike Ryan- Was someone that caught Jay's eye early and is clearly high on. Eddie Yamin - hits how we teach players to hit. great character and locker room guy. Daniel Dickinson - speed, athletic and great defender. Anthony Eyanson - Caught Jay's eye when he was scouting someone else.
Hernandez is in Japan playing as the starting catcher for an undefeated Puerto Rico all star team.
Jay doesn't seem to believe we will go to 34 scholarships. More realistic number is 20 to 25.
Jay went into NIL quite a bit. Said he is not a fan of paying HS players unless they are 3 million signing bonus kind of guys. Also the players they do offer NIL to are basically just paying their scholarship and expenses. Some schools are clearly paying more and that is the direction we are headed. He did mention, that they could have sort of a cap on NIL in the future.
I also was able to talk to Jay one on one briefly. He told me that he expects more offense this year and that last year was not up to his standards. I asked him how his players don't burn out. He told me that he tells them if they only "like" baseball this isn't the place for them. They have to live baseball.
I asked him during the meeting if anyone was catching his eye. He told me it was too early but mentioned. Eyanson, Mayers, Cooper Williams, Evans and Schmidt.
Scrimmages will start Oct. 10. They will play Samford in Biloxi and ULL in the fall, both will be 3 seven inning games.

Unfortunately, this probably isn't going to happen. As bad as they want to put the genie back in the bottle, there isn't really a way to do it that will withstand a challenge.
The language used is already causing problems in the antitrust settlement and no matter what comes out of that if they try to limit NIL that part will be challenged, and the challenge will probably win. With the decision already made it is going to be practically impossible for the NCAA to regulate since it is coming from 3rd parties, not the school.

If they could work something out with Southern Miss in the future to play in Biloxi that would be a really fun trip

It was great to visit with 3 freshmen (Arrambide, Evans, Ryan) and 3 transfers (Eyanson, Dickinson, Yamin) at the CC meeting last night. All are very personable young men more than willing to engage with the club members. More importantly, all expressed that they are genuinely excited to be at LSU! Looking forward to watching these guys this fall.

Ate with Arrambide and Evans, both from Houston area, and they were very comfortable chatting with us old folks about their interests and living situations.

Nice summary of the CC meeting Wild. Thanks for posting.
There are a lot of new faces for sure Jay said that only 12 players that logged playing time last season are currently on the roster this fall. He is definitely high on the potential of the upcoming pitching staff despite losing a record number of pitchers to the draft this year.
He also seems to think that the additions to this team will provide more offense than last season and truly raved about Dickinson and what he brings to the table.
The new field level box seats all have foundations poured and appear to be approximately 75% complete. Underneath the right outfield bleachers closest to the training facility/playground area has had drainage installed and obstructions cleared. The slab is poured there where the new home bullpen will be located but no visible changes to the bleachers above is noted.
Spoke with the new strength and conditioning coach Chris Martin who was very complementary about the position that he stepped into. He was very impressed by the facilities, commitment and resources that LSU provides to the baseball athletes. Said that for this level of baseball, the physical talent that Jay and Josh Jordan have assembled is exceptional and that he has tons of "clay to mold". He is excited to see the progress he expects this fall practice session.
It'll be exciting to see more of the new players on the field once practice starts and as Wild said Monster definitely has put on some muscle and good weight.

Do they still let the committee decide the final 2 scholarships?

Damn Wild...felt like I was there with you with that report.

Evans as the top pitcher is a big deal. He flew under because so many people viewed him as a SS or two way player. If he just focuses on pitching then he’ll be a big time add.

Did anyone get any pictures of the new construction for the new premium seating on field level?

I doubt that because he knows you'll have quit on the team by March 1

Looks like it's the U-23 Baseball World Cup.
Hernandez has a .867 OPS in 8 games. Profile Page He did catch at least one game there (the championship). He may have caught more but I didn't look at every box score.
It was played in Shaoxing City, China. Puerto Rico went 7-2 in 9 games. They lost in the finals to Japan.
ETA: That makes Hernandez the second incoming player who represented their country in international competition this summer. Blaise Preister played for an NJCAA all star team that represented the US in Netherlands this summer as part of their annual Honkbalweek tournament

Hernandez batting .350 in that strong competition in Japan is very encouraging. I believe our offense will be able to rake this season, definitely a much-improved attack over last season in my opinion.
