Your 2024 Golfing Stats

Where are all of you at based on your GHIN stats for 2024? For myself:
• # of scores - 86
• High - 96
• Low - 72
• Avg - 82.7
• Started 2024 as an 8.4 HDCP, got up to a 9.1 at the beginning of February and am now sitting at a 4.1.
My game has progressed tremendously this year, I have become much more consistent with my irons and really developed a solid swing. I have been through the yips, i had a period where I couldn't get off the tee box and had to switch putters this year.
I think the one thing that has also helped is I switched from my Callaways X2 Hot irons (13 years old) to a brand new set of Ping i530 that were custom fit. The length of the new irons is ridiculous, it's a 2-club difference. My old 7-iron went around 170-175. My new 7-iron is about 195-200.

I use 18 birdies, doesn’t give me an option for high and low do I had to dig through them.
# of scores - 54
• High - 85
• Low - 64
• Avg - 75.9
• Hcp - 4.2
The 64 was a pretty good day with the irons, every once in a while it clicks.

That's a lot of golf. Congrats on lowering the HC so much.
Didn't start inputting my scores on GHIN until May this year. Normally just kept my own HC, nothing official. So since May:
# of scores:22
High: 84
Low: 74
Avg.: 78.7
H.I.: 3.6
I've now had 5 rounds in a row of shooting 80 or 81. Before that I had only had back to back rounds in the 80's once all year. I have this tendinitis in my wrist that has been killing me that is really effecting my game. Saturday I tried playing in a wrist brace and toed a wedge on #1 and toed my driver on #2. Was +4 through two holes. Took the brace off and shot +4 on the final 16 holes. The wrist brace helps but it just jacks with my swing.

High 94

Average 87
10.1 HC
Low 9.1
I have better shots than years past I just can’t put it all together. Feel like I’m playing better in 2024 but had better HC in 23.

• # of scores - 44 (18 hole rounds)
• High - 92
• Low - 71
• Avg - 79.6 (a good chunk of my rounds are on a par 70 course)
• Started 2024 as an 7.8 HDCP, got up to a 8.2 in January, down to a 4.9 in July, and currently a 5.3.
Put a new driver in my bag in March (Callaway Ai Smoke TD) and my driving really became a strength. Between that and a focus on my setup, I'm driving the ball further than I ever have since I started playing 28 years ago.
Putting has also been a strength this year. I've always considered myself a good/above average putter simply because I have good distance control for the most part and seem to be able to read putts pretty well. But I've focused more on routine this year and have really been starting the putts on line better, leading to more made putts and even the ones that miss have a chance to go in. I did have a 90 hole streak without a 3-putt that ended earlier this month.
My iron play has been up and down, however. I did put in a set of T-150s about this time last year, and have gained both height and distance with my irons. But I have good and bad days with them, mostly due to strike location with the bad days seeing a lot of misses toward the toe leading to coming up well short.
Also been up and down with the short game. Generally I'm a good pitcher and chipper of the ball and hit it pretty close from around the green. But then there are days when I can't get the ball close enough to have a reasonable chance to save par, and that's when the scores creep up.
I still need to cut down on the doubles and plus holes as I'm averaging exactly as many of those per round as I am birdies (about 1.5). Average 8.5 pars and 6.5 bogeys per round.
Overall, I'm pleased with my golf game. I never practice, other than putting on my backyard mat, and rarely even warm up on the range before playing. I shouldn't complain about not getting even better since I don't practice, but I still do.

GHIN asseses 9 hole rounds immediately instead of pairing the 9s like they use to so many of my scores are 9 holes.
137 rounds(many are 9 holes)
81-94 range
12.4 index now.
As low as 10 last 52 weeks.
This year has been a tough year with putting yips.
I’m working through it, but it’s hard some days to keep plugging away.
Best 9 holes I was 36 in member member. I’ve had multiple nines in the 30s this year, but I’ve not put together 18 holes.

When my kids were little there were years I did not get my 16 rounds in that came with my social membership.
Between their activities and work, there was no time. I played some, but a BIG year would be 25 rounds.
Now that I’ve got the time and money, I get to play more, but the skills are fading quicker than I’d like. At first it was distance, then the health, then the yips with the putter.
Maybe one of your kids will get the golf bug. I wish one of mine had been a junior golfer, but they did not take to it or like it.

Cut a foot off the shaft, gets you bent over more so the stroke is much straighter

Never really had the yips but last year I started practicing with an alignment stick and it has helped quite a bit. This is not where I learned it and this guy is definitely not an instructor but this is the only one I saw on YT that dumbed the drill down. LINK I use the stick and practice with straight and breaking putts for both sides and practice normally 5-15 footers.
A few things I do differently than the video is I don't use the line on the ball and I put my ball as close to the stick as possible to where my putter head is almost touching the stick at address. That way as soon as I take my club back, if I'm bringing it outside, it will tap the stick and I know I'm off line. Gives feedback right away.

That's a lot of golf.
This of course doesn't include the scrambles or charity tourneys either. I'm fortunate enough to live in a golf community and can walk to the driving range / golf course. We play almost every Friday and Saturday with some other days mixed in here and there. My wife doesn't work so she let's me golf whenever I want! I should easily hit 100+ this year.

Started the year at a 7.1, Handicap Index got up to 9.1 in February, dropped it 3 shots in the last 2 months. Shot my best round of the year in a match play club tournament this weekend, which is always a nice feeling. Hoping to get down to a 3-4 by the end of the year. Keeping doubles off the card is my challenge...

Playing the best golf of my life this year at age 39. Went from breaking 80 once before the year started to 3x so far this year (77,79,79). Last 3 rounds have been 79,83,81 which is probably my best 3 rounds stretch ever.
I’ve been chasing that sub 80 for so long I finally just said I’m going to put every free minute I have into getting better. I started listening to a lot of Bob Rotella stuff which helped significantly. Started really using course analytics to figure out what holes at OCC are challenging for me and change my strategy. Where to go for birdies/pars and where it’s ok to have a bogey as long as it doesn’t turn into a double.
I am married with 3 kids, and all 3 finally go to the same school. They ride the bus in the morning at 6:45, when they leave I head to the range. Work on the game from 7:00-7:45 then go to work. I’m there every morning Tues-Fri weather permitting. It has helped a ton. Don’t feel as nervous when I play on Sundays or feel like I have to “find a swing” every weekend. I use one day for wedges and greenside shots, one day for tee shots, one day for putting, and one day to have extra work for anything I’m struggling with.
There really is no substitute for practice reps. Tiger once said he wanted to have at least 1,000 club touches to the ball every day.
Golf is hard.

I've spent a large part of this year with the yips with the driver. Terrible timing for it too, home course brought the rough in an additional 12 yards on each fairway. The rough is that fluffy grass where the ball just sinks straight down and each fairway is lined with trees. Course has gotten to be much more difficult on days when you're not hitting well off the tee. My avg score has gone up 2.3 strokes yet my handicap has only gone up 0.3.
