How good can we be and realistically fire DA and hire Kubiak?

I think even after just 2 games, it’s clear that Kubiak is more valuable than DA and will likely be getting HC offers after the season as everybody wants a branch off that Shannahan tree these days.
8-9 or 9-8, we could easily justify firing DA and promoting Kubiak. What about 10-7? 11-6? 12-5? etc… I almost think the BETTER we do, the more we need to make Kubiak HC. But how good could we be and do that without the inevitable and brutal media backlash? And would we care? I wouldn’t.
We could go 15-2 and lose in the NFCCG, and I’d be fine with it. Anything short of making the Super Bowl, and I’d be fine with it. The ONLY thing I tend to worry about in situations where you fire coaches too early is the message it sends to your next hire. “You mean, I could move my family across the country, uproot my life, go 8-9, 9-8, 12-5 and win the division and still get fired?”
But that wouldn’t apply in this hypothetical as you’ve already made your next hire. Only way it could blow up in our faces is if Kubiak (or his wife) decide they don’t like New Orleans and leave for a more “prestigious” gig like the Cowboys or Giants, or the Broncos when they figure out the league has passed him by (and he probably has some fondness for the Broncos organization because of his dad), or a gig with a good young QB opens up like the Chiefs, Bengals, or Bills. And we’re left standing with our dicks in our hands in 3 years.
frick it, I’d do it. Lot easier for a great offensive minded HC to find a good DC—especially for Kubiak with all his connections—than it is for a defensive minded HC to find a good OC and keep him after any sustained success. What says ST?

Hopefully, we can keep it like it is for a couple years

I think the hope is that whoever is under Kubiak is picking up enough on the job that they could be given the OC job. That’s base case scenario imo. Unless we can just keep hiring the San Fran passing game coordinators. Some continuity and familiarity would be nice for next year.
And DA is actually proving his worth with this defense. You hold teams under 20 in the NFL and have a somewhat competent offense you are gonna win a lot of games. When you start putting up 40 a game it’s almost video game like.

IDK but the players are having fun so I'm having fun

Amazing that evwn when we win and have a far better start than any could have imagined, we have fans that still dwell on firing DA.
Just see how the season goes. If we crater, ok but for frick sakes just enjoy the ride.

With our current trajectory, he’s all but gone after this year.
Ask yourself this question, if we win 11-12 games everyone will know it was b/c of him. Teams will be looking to hire him. If we fired Allen after that kinda season , highly doubtful any team is hiring him as head coach.

Kubiak just doesn't come work for Dennis Allen without a history
if anything Allen was just too loyal to Carmichael

You dumbfrick, this defense would go to shite without him.

We are Kubiak’s 4th team in 4 years. His lineage is no secret. Let’s let the season play out, you are getting a bit ahead of yourself.

It would be best to win the Super Bowl first THEN fire DA.

I’m not dwelling on firing DA. I’d love to keep this set up for years. I really like DA as a person and certainly as a the guy running the defense. I’m dwelling—not even dwelling, just pondering—on how to prevent this from being a 1-year deal and winding up next year with some retread Arthur Smith type guy or gambling on identifying another up and comer. I’d have to think if Kubiak takes another gig, that he at least takes the guy underneath him to be his OC. If he’s the HC, he could bring all his guys with him and give them all at least a 1 level promotion. Would we promote his #3?
But this thread has been taken out of context and not in the spirit I meant for it to be. That’s on me for not explaining it better. I didn’t wake up this morning and hit the floor just looking for ways to fire Dennis Allen.
But what I REALLY wanted to discuss was more abstract. Forget DA, Kubiak, and the Saints. Or any actual people. Hypothetically, if a coordinator came in and with no personnel upgrades helped turn a mediocre team into a very good team with basically the same guys everywhere else—coaches and players—to where it was obvious his addition made the difference—where is the very fine line to where he’s so attractive and valuable that you want to keep him, but the HC and team did so well that you couldn’t really justify firing him?

What in the absolute retardation is this shite?

you're better than this, Carl.

If the Saints make a deep playoff run and the offense continues doing this, he most certainly gets a HC offer after the season.

Theyll never do it, but if this leads to a deep playoff run, they should absolutely hire kubiak and force allen to resign. But i know that would never happen
Posted on 9/16/24 at 4:50 pm to Hot Carl
I'm not holding out much hope for Kubiak as the new HC, but I do hope someone in that coach's room is paying attention, learning this system and how to playcall as is being done. That may not be too much to ask for.

Could the saints be the first team ever to win a SB and fire their coach??
