Armadillos??

These things are tearing up my yard again. I have my Dad's old bolt action 22 that I have used in the past to kill them. I tried to shoot one this morning (3 AM's), but I missed due to not being able to hold the light and shoot. I am thinking of getting a strong flashlight and securing it to the barrel.
Would this work and are there better options? Also what flashlight will work best?

Get a shotgun. You can mount a flashlight to the barrel with something like below. Can buy the mount and flashlight off of Amazon.

Eliminating the grubs they feed on.

I've been waking my wife up so she can hold the light for me. Works well but usually leads to a rough day.

The Armadillo Trap Company
Trap them and haul them away or kill 'em as they run emerge from the trap. Harvest in the morning rather than staying up at night. Use your imagination. I have trapped the hell out of them in the past. See my Avatar.

Get a trap $20 at academy, make a funnel into the trap using 2x4's. Wake up at a normal time and shoot the trapped armadillo, much easier in my opinion.

Look around in the flower beds and find their den.
Then throw some smoke bombs in it and cover the top with a board.
You can get the smoke bombs at a garden place

It is illegal to be shooting the 22. I have to many houses around me to shoot a shotgun. The first time I saw it I actually hit it with a piece of pipe. I could not get an angle to shoot away from my neighboring houses.

"See my Avatar" Are you that small or is the armadillo that damn big?

Damn bro. You’re firing a rifle in a neighborhood?

I fire one in my small gated community however behind my house is a conservation area and shooting a 22 out of my sun room sort of muffles the sound. I kill rats eating my deer corn all the time and I shot 5 armadillos last summer after they destroyed my front yard. Have not had any armadillo issues so far this summer.

Next time see how close you can get to one. I have shot one sniffing the muzzle of a 22.

Get yourself a crossbow and mount a flashlight to the bottom of it.

I am not this best archery hunter. Deer do not worry when I’m in the woods, but tails are told of me amongst the armadillos. To them I’m Hawkeye.
