I can't imagine this ending well for the women.

The USS New Jersey has a crew of nearly 135 Navy personnel. It’s the first in its class designed to be fully gender integrated.
When the Navy lifted its ban on women in submarines in 2010, concern about the living quarters being too tight and a lack of privacy prompted the Navy to retrofit subs and designate washrooms.
The USS New Jersey was designed from the outset with gender-neutral accommodations like increased privacy in washrooms and sleeping areas, Vice Admiral Robert Gaucher, commander of Submarine Forces Atlantic, told NorthJersey.com. Access to top bunks and overhead valves were also designed with the height, reach and strength of women in mind.
I can't imagine this ending well for the women.

Dude, face it: Women on naval vessels has been an unmitigated disaster on multiple levels. Our navy is an empty shell of what it was just a couple of decades ago. And you really think it is the Russians we need to worry about?

If you have never been on a six-month-long deployment with them then I can't take your opinion seriously. I have deployed on all-male submarines as well as integrated submarines. I have not discerned a notable drop in the quality of work being done.

Naval engagements will be fought from hundreds of miles away between cruisers and destroyers that are attempting to shoot long range missiles at themselves and the aircraft carriers.

There is no professionalism (much less superior professionalism) if you are simply shoehorning diversity into something for nothing more than the sake of wearing it as a badge of pseudo-honor.

No, they made those changes so that women could have their own berthing and bathrooms. The older Virginia and Los Angeles class submarines were not designed with females in mind, so up until this latest Block of SSN-774s females only had one bathroom they could use on the submarine.
