I just started Dexter 2 weeks ago- now on Season 3. I agree Doakes should have stuck around for a lot longer- he was a good foil for DM.

Honestly, it was such a great 2 season arch.
Doakes was a great foil and was easy to root against since he was going after Dexter. And the way it ended for him was tragic. He was right about Dexter, was killed for it by Rita after almost convincing Dexter to turn himself in, and then framed as the Bay Harbor Butcher. I remember legit feeling bad for him when no one showed up at his funeral because they thought he was the mass murderer.
Also, I obviously won’t spoil anything since you’re on season 3 but season 4 might be the greatest single season of TV I’ve ever seen. It’s one of those things I wish I could go back and watch for the first time.

I enjoyed the first episode. Good to see him going after “bad guys” again.

I'm already sold. 
It's hilarious seeing the younger versions of these guys. Deb is not anorexic like older Deb, but she's got the mouth. Not crazy about the casting of Masuka, but he's not bad, he's got that Vince adolescent behavior.
I had heard about the heretofore unknown Junior before I watched the episode. But I don't think they have directly related it to Harry's motivations with Dexter yet?

After the first three episodes I am extremely encouraged. The casting is fantastic and the dialogue has been great. Plot is working well so far.
