Wife and I are headed down to NO in a couple of weeks for a wedding weekend. Night times are pretty booked, but it looks like we have days to eat and explore.

1) Wife is a vegetarian, but is pretty capable of finding things on any menu she can eat (as long as it doesn't have like huge pieces of meat in it, she's okay).

2) We aren't really looking for fine dining. We'd prefer somewhere that's cool/casual with good culture and fun vibes.

3) We aren't really looking to hit any of the big "tourist traps"

Thanks! That definitely looks like the type of area we're interested in exploring.

It’s not local cuisine, but 1000 figs does a vegetarian falafel feast which is perfect for 2 people. One of my wife and i’s favorite casual spots. It’s a great little pocket of the city. Get a drink at swirl wine bar next door before. Walk along esplanade ridge and bayou St. John for very underrated architecture. Cafe degas is also an option right there especially if egg dishes are something she likes.

Bearcat cafe has a vegan menu, but the lines are always long. Cafe Carmo has a lot of options but has never been my favorite.

The daily beet if you want a fast and casual lunch/snack.

Awesome! We have a Daily Beet in Fayetteville, now, and we actually get food and such there pretty often. Thanks for all the suggestions. Falafel feast sounds amazing.

Happy Hour at Luke is a nice treat. My wife likes their Brussel sprouts dish (meatless) and makes a meal of it and a dessert. They make a fantastic burger. We sit at the bar and have a drink or two. Nice little spot in the CBD across from the Intercontinental.

ETA: it’s a French and Japanese fusion restaurant with EXCELLENT vegetable dishes.

Mushroom Tarte Flambé
Tempura Cauliflower
Grilled Bok Choy (probably the best veggie dish I’ve ever eaten)

I bet the Braised Autumn Vegetable dish is unreal.

1000 figs is really good.

Silk Road is good too and has some vegan.
It's Indian fusion.

Most places so have vegetarian options

Costera may work given the vegetarian nonsense.

I’d do Saba though. Lots of options for that.

I know I should support Saba as that's where the founder moved after the problems at Shaya. But for some reason I like the food better at Shaya.

Food and atmosphere both better at Shaya IMO
