The plays he made as a freshman were due to scenarios where he was un blocked and/or a young dumb qb rolled right to him (Arkansas game where he had multiple sacks ). The fact is he is not an edge rusher by any means , he does not have the size or skills for that and cannot beat any tackle 1 vs 1. He is average lb size and it is harder to scheme for a ilb to disrupt offenses . This doesn’t mean he’s a bad player , it just means people shouldn’t expect 3 sacks a game .

His strength as a player is chasing down the ball and making plays, not taking on blocks and filling gaps. I’m hoping that we have some inside games/run blitzes that we are holding back because this is the only way to use his natural abilities to their best as an inside backer.

Even worse than the 2 tackles, is how easily he gives up on a play as soon as he is blocked. No fight.

He was unblocked because he ran around the OL…. He single handedly changed the Ole Miss game, when Kiffen said he was the best player on the field. The dude didn’t just perform in one game, I don’t understand where this is suddenly coming from. He was a game changer as a spy and pass rusher.

He is overly aggressive and takes himself out of plays... he doesn't do a good job of reading what is happening in front of him... with his speed and quickness, he needs to react to the play as it is happening

We simply got coordinates who don't know how to scheme his talents into their system... NFL coaches will do a better job coaching his skill set because they always do... dude should be having a Micah Parson type impact for us...

Yeah like someone else said, he has 1 solo tackle against Nichols last night. Something needs to change cause that don’t sound like an all American to me, he constantly runs up in the middle pile and never gets out to make a play.

The game we lost because Kiffin started running the ball at the hole Perkins vacated to Blitz off the edge? Kiffin was trolling. Rewatch the game. Fast forward to the 4th and watch Perkins only. Watch the holes he leaves, and then watch where the RB went.

Put him on short side of filed and blitz him every play or take him out and play someone else. Loop him inside, run twist, send him hard outside, etc. He’s just a loose cannon and can’t play in structure. His tongue should be hanging out after the game.

Harold should keep working to develop his complete game. He’s got incredible potential but needs to keep working on his craft

He looks frustrated. watched him all night getting driven and fighting to get free with a big boy who locked him up.

He blitzed inside a number of times against USC. It was picked up every time.

There was a play last night where Perkins was initially on the outer edge of the line as the ball was handed off. The running back juked towards the inside, Perkins bit and moved inside to where there were already 10 bodies and no holes, and the running back went went around to where he was (and probably should have still been) for a 10 yard gain.

I just shook my head when I heard Kelly say that Perkins will stay in the middle and that was where he belongs. He needs to play the star position where they can utilize his athleticism.

There are about 6 posters on this post alone that need to apply for the LSU HC position. You guys seem to know far more about this team than our HC or any member of the staff. I am sure that the lack of production has nothing to do with Perkins not playing to the whistle on each snap......kind of like the half jog he put in when NSU's RB broke that 60+ yard run. If you want to show your speed, use it, don't just jog down the field on a play still in progress. No excuse for not playing snap to whistle.
