A lot of talk about "If we scheduled an easy opponent before USC, we would have won." Well, we have 4 easy opponents and a bye week before Ole Miss comes to Baton Rouge, so looking like kinks ought to be ironed out and we'll be 4-1 going into October 12.

Nicholls - rent-a-win

@South Carolina - they trailed in the 4th against Old Dominion. only won because of ODU's inability to hold onto the football.

UCLA - they trailed 10-0 at halftime in Hawaii this past weekend.

South Alabama - they gave up 52 points to North Texas

And after all that, we get 2 weeks to prepare for Ole Miss while they're busy playing their first physical test in Kentucky. Ole Miss's September schedule is a complete joke if you haven't seen it.

I agree that the schedule sets up nicely and we definitely should be 4-1 heading into the Ole Miss game.

But can’t help thinking that we should be 5-0 heading into it.

Their entire schedule is a joke. They play 3 teams that were ranked in preseason: LSU, Oklahoma, and Georgia. Their only power-conference OOC game is against Wake Forest.

We should be 4-1 when Ole Miss rolls in but bookmark this post……….
We are not beating Ole Miss this year……they are loaded on both sides of the ball. They could very well win the whole thing this year……I live on the Gulf Coast and this is their year if there ever was one. They went out and bought a defense and we all know how good Lane is……..best Ole Miss team in 25 years.

Ole Miss was the best team LSU played in 2003. That’s the last time they were better than good. Last year was close.

That said, they haven’t legitimately competed for national titles since the Kennedy administration.

This is the most dominant I've seen Ole Miss since their Johnny Vaught juggernauts in 1958-59-60-61-62-63. I mean they were wildly good beating the living daylights, 76-0 out of a top shelf FCS team

Schedule easy opponent? Florida State just about a 20 point favorite at home in Tallahassee and lost to BC.

we shouldn't be within 14 of anyone before we play before Ole Miss

they have many holes on their team. We should be favored against them

I’d expect vegas to set the line around +4 LSU to get action on both sides

Ole Miss schedule rivals Liberty. Prior to playing LSU in the 7th game their schedule is Furman, Middle Tennessee, Wake Forest, Georgia Southern, Kentucky, South Carolina. Unbelievable schedule maker for OOC games. In SEC they also have powerhouse Florida to deal with. My God.

10 years ago an Ole Miss team came into Tiger Stadium undefeated and ranked No. 3. One that had already beaten No. 3 Alabama. One that went to Kyle Field and beat No. 14 A&M. One that had just handed Tennessee it's worst loss of the season (by 31 points)

LSU, on the other hand, was barely ranked. They had been blown out by both Miss. St (even though a few late scores made the game look closer than it was) and Auburn. It was the worst LSU team in 6 years. Ole Miss left that night 7-1.

I'm not saying Ole Miss isn't good. I'm not saying they can't beat LSU. All I'm saying is I'm not quite ready to fully buy-in on a program that hasn't won anything of note in 50+ years.

Alabama? Fine. They have begrudgingly earned their benefit of the doubt. Ole Miss? I'll believe it when I see it.

They also avoided playing Bama this season somehow. I don’t blame them for putting all their chips in, as they will be decimated next year with the amount of seniors + one year portal rentals. Nothing would make me happier than to be the first blemish on their attempted GOAT season.

They were good in 08. That was the last time they won in TS.

yep I don’t have any doubt we will be 4-1 but the crappy thing is we should’ve had a top 5 matchup when ole Miss came to town and we’ve been missing that kind of atmosphere for a while. Still disappointing but USC was good prep for OM and we can win that game and hop back into the top 10 with a win there and be 5-1 undefeated in the SEC.

I'm most likely taking Nicholson...hopefully the construction is done by that game.
