Just booked an Alaska cruise for next summer and digging into hotel & cruise transfer info. Last time we did it (about 6 years ago) cousin set it up so I don’t remember who we used for transportation. Looking at getting a hotel with a shuttle from the airport and then using Seattle Express to/from port but was wondering what anyone else has done on their trips.

Did an Alaskan cruise this summer, just did Lyft’s to and from airport, and to the cruise terminal. There must be some promotion going on because they were all driving new Grand Highlanders.

If planning on sightseeing in Seattle, avoid 3rd Ave. Lots of drugged out zombies and homeless. Kids got to see a dude shitting on the sidewalk so that was cool.

We went this summer. Grabbed a taxi from the airport to the hotel (I think that was a flat $50, which was cheaper than what I saw on the Uber/Lyft apps upon landing). Hotel had a shuttle (sign up in advance) from the hotel to the port (I think it was $10/person). Took Seattle Express from port to airport (it was right at $25/person booked online with an AAA promo code).

Hotel was La Quinta Seattle Downtown, 2224 8th Avenue.

ETA: Make sure to note there are 2 different cruise terminals in Seattle so that you book the right transfers. Bell Street Pier Cruise Terminal at Pier 66 (currently, NCL and Oceania) and Smith Cove Cruise Terminal at Pier 91 (currently, everyone else).

Took Uber from the cruise terminal to the airport in May and it was $91!!!
We had a 2.5 hr window to get to the airport so didn't really look at options.
Been to Seattle several times and Uber/Lyft fees are always higher. Cruise terminal to the Space Needle is less than 2.5 miles and Lyft was $26.

I Iive in Seattle and I can verify that Third Ave is an eyesore from Belltown to Pioneer Square, although it is improving little by little.

Seattle Marriott Waterfront & Edgewater Hotel would be my recs if you’re porting out of the one closer to downtown.

I have no idea if they have shuttles from SeaTac. I just lived on 1st street for a while right by them. Cool location

Seattle Marriott Waterfront

Pricey, but super convenient. The cruise ship / port is literally right across the street and there are plenty of things to do in the area within walking distance.

Was in Seattle in June
Taxi from airport to hotel
Stayed at The Mediterranean Inn on Queen Anne Ave N
Very nice accommodations and really cater to the cruise passengers.

Walking distance to Space Needle.
From there a monorail to 4th street downtown, the walking distance to Pike Market, Ferris Wheel, Ferry to Bainbridge Island, etc

Hotel has inexpensive shuttle to the cruise ship.
After cruise taxi back to hotel and stayed another night.
Next morning hotel arranged transportation to the airport.

All hotel set up transportation was cheaper than Uber / Lyft prices.
Note that taxis have “zone pricing” which are set rates from one zone to another.

Looking at getting a hotel

Good call. Went on Alaskan cruise out of Seattle and flew in same day as ship departure. Luggage didn't make the connecting flight and spent the first four days of the cruise with only what we could buy from the gift shop (not much). Never making that mistake again.

Oh no, what a nightmare. I was more worried about a flight delay causing you to miss the sailing and hadn’t even thought about luggage not making it.

Get a taxi. $50 flat rate. We stayed at the Embassy Suites downtown. Restaurants in the hotel were both very good.

For debarking USE THE PORT VALET SERVICE! They take your luggage the night before you get off the ship and take it straight to the airport for you. You put it outside your room the night before and you pick it up from the luggage carousel at your final destination. FREE SERVICE. it's amazing. I wish every cruise port did it.

Even with the luggage debacle the trip was amazing! Would love to do another one the right way lol

Forgot to add, if you can squeeze in some Olympic Natl Park on the front or back end do it, well worth the effort.

Just returned from a cruise out of Seattle last week. We stayed at the Inn at the Market. Hotel is a few minutes from Bell Street Pier Cruise Terminal at Pier 66. They have a shuttle service (25.00 per person) that drops you off at the terminal. A cab to the airport was 45.00 (flat rate). Uber is more expensive. The Inn was also offering a cruise package promotion. Free private shuttle to the hotel. Upgrading the room to a view of Puget sound is worth the cost.

Went in May of 2023. Flew into Seattle two days prior to cruise. Had two nights at a hotel close to the airport. Easy access to downtown via the monorail, or whatever it is called. We walked from the airport to the hotel. The cruise line had a shuttle setup to the cruise area that we paid for. That worked out great. They picked up our luggage the night before cruise departure and it was waiting in our rooms when we boarded.

Got on the shuttle at the hotel and they brought us directly to the cruise area. We were on the ship within 20 minutes of getting off the shuttle needing only to carry the carry on items.
