true, keep the viewers away from Kamala’s gaffes.

ironically the ESPN outage doesnt really affect LSU fans this week. since it’s our cupcake game against Nicholls, the game is on ESPN+, not ESPN

Pulled the plug right before the LSU-USC game. Timing was downright sinister.

I have dish, but I live well out in the country and unlimited satellite internet is stupid high out there, like almost $300 for unlimited....so I keep basic internet for like $99 bucks (I don't stream out there just get online like this), and Dish for $175 or so....either way I go I'm paying almost $300 bucks.

Basic is all you need. You dont have to have an unlimited plan. Who told you that you had to have an "unlimited" internet plan? Your ISP?

baw, get you a price from Starlink. Walmart carries Starlink equipment now. Might be a better rate for you.

when ESPN gets enough new subscribers that will force ATT to make a deal.
I have ATT Uverse and mine is out. It's not DirecTV only. Its ATT.

ETA: I just looked it up, it involves DirecTV, ATT UVerse, and another ATT streaming service.

I'm kinda pissed that Uverse is involved when this is a DirectTV dispute.

I have the same question. YouTube TV is outstanding and pretty much accessible everywhere.

I cut the cable awhile ago and never looked back.

My service worked fine. However, instead, I chose to watch it on OTA because it was a few seconds ahead of the content provided by my service provider, and that worked fine too.

I remember when I had Directv they used to do this fairly regularly it seemed. I would get dueling messages warning about an interruption and advocating for me to put pressure on one party or the other for at least a week prior and it seemed like it was a month prior.

I work pretty close to the situation and I’ll leave it at that. I’ve been in this business for 20 years

I’ll spare you the details, but all of these contracts are coming up in the next year or two with every provider

Spectrum was first and was in the exact same situation last September 1. FYI, Disney always has the expiration date of contracts at the beginning of football season for that very reason to help negotiating.

Spectrum was dark until two hours before the first Monday night football game last year, so that’s the only example we have which gives me hope it will be back on DIRECTV this upcoming Monday.

Dish Network, Cox, YouTube TV, they will all be in the situation soon. The landscape is changing and ESPN is asking for the world with their new contracts.

The main highlights of this new contract negotiation is Disney is asking for 150% more money with the new deal and his requiring Disney+ and Hulu to be part of the deal. They want DIRECTV to offer it to customers and hit certain retention metrics throughout the year of minimum subscriber counts with each product. If they don’t hit those then they have to pay Disney a hefty fee. DIRECTV is arguing we aren’t in the business of pushing your streaming products or paying a 150% increase because just ESPNs ratings are up in your portfolio, not their other 12 channels- Freeform, Disney jr, etc.

By the way, DIRECTV is still the most profitable of the premium pay TV companies. Dish Network could be bankrupt later this year(Nov 1 is a big date where they have an 2.1B note due), and word on the street is DIRECTV will buy them.

You have to remember there are still a ton of rural customers that cannot get high-speed Internet to have a seamless experience with a streaming product. HD and 4k require much more bandwidth.

Ask me a follow up and I’ll do my best to answer.
