Have 2 Meater+ probes and neither will connect to my phone via bluetooth.

Anyone have any luck with these crappy things?

I started with one and it worked fine. Added a second and now neither work. Using the old school wired probe which has never failed to work.

My phone will connect to the charger base but the probe won't connect. Phone keeps saying to move the probe closer to the charger. They are 3" apart on my countertop.

I was gifted one this past Christmas and have not been overly impressed. The ambient reading is always 70°-90° lower than secondary sources so now I'm just ignoring it. The internal temp seems to be accurate. I wrote Meater about this problem and never heard back from them. I connect it to an old iPad on the same WIFI as my phone so at least I get extended range.
I also have an InkBird but 2/4 probes have stopped working.

Mine has worked as advertised. Ambient temps have been confirmed with wired and analog sources. I seem to be in the minority.

Eta mine is the meater 2

Mine works fine, but I’ve stopped using it and just use a Thermapen. It’s just easier.

I have two wireless ones... couldn't tell you the brand but the case connects to the probes with bluetooth and connects to your wifi network. People bitch that the bluetooth range is short, but it has a magnet and I just put the case on one of the legs on my smoker or grill.. and often forget about it until I need them again...

It’s great when I get it to work but it’s an annoying fight every time that I often choose not to engage in.

I don’t use mine often, but I’ve never had an issue with it. The range isn’t great, so I’ll typically keep my iPad near the cooking source.

I bought one and got tired of fooling with all the connectivity issues with it and bought a ThermoWorks probe one. Previously had a Maverick probe for a very long while.

My hardwood charcoal rotisserie nuked them. As far as I know no flame hit the outside.

I got these and they are Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and have worked well since. Deal on Amazon for the 3 set

I've really started to hate mine, it disconnects constantly when I'm sitting in my patio. I feel I need to sit outside next to my grill in order for it to not disconnect. Also I've found my Meater probe to run higher then the ones I got from RecTec.

ThermoWorks RFX

I can't wait for these to start shipping. The 433hz and higher temp ratings will be a game changer. They are also saying they will be releasing additional probes in the future that will work with the same gateway. It would be awesome if they release a fridge/freezer probe to send alerts of my kids forget to shut the doors. Bonus points if it will pair with with Home Assistant.

I only use the Meater for big things, longer cooks. Smaller/shorter it's just too easy to do the pen. Meater is so thick you can't really use it for steaks, chops, etc. Basically just whole chicken, brisket, butts, shoulders. But I do like using it for those.

I leave the block right by the grill, and it doesn't have trouble reaching my phone inside, but only rooms nearby.

Mine has worked well. Ambient temps read accurately, when lower temperatures are read on the ambient reading, I’ve relocated the meat to allow more airflow around the probe and meat being cooked. I primarily use on longer cooks.

Hell yes, put my order in over a month ago. Got the 2 wireless probe set. From all,the reviews/demos I have seen these will put Meater out of business.

I like mine so far, but the first connection was hard to get right, and I was surprised it drained a battery the 2nd day after I got it

The meater 2 has very similar features. The RFX demos don’t put it up against that model.

Not sure if it’s the case for you, but if the metallic cap on the black part gets dirty, it won’t connect to your phone. Using it for smoking dirties it up eventually. Cleaning it with a sponge solved the problem for me.

I’ve got the Combustion pen. Interesting technology and connects fine. The battery charge does not last between uses, so you have to remember to charge them before use.

Mine works fine. It has its quirks, but if you tinker around with it you'll figure out what you're doing wrong. I have noticed the range isnt as good as advertised. And putting it inside the metal charcoal grill causes the signal to get lost sometimes.
