Walker Kessler "doesn't seem to be part of the Jazz's long-term plan."

Kessler was not very good last season, no surprise here.

I'll take him off their hands. Dude is a beast

There's a reason why I want at least two firsts back in any ingram/kessler trade. And I still don't want to do it

Compared to what we have right now he’d be an upgrade. We have no true starting center. Kessler would give us 20 minutes a night of good rim protection but no way I’m giving UtahIngram for Kessler without drat picks coming back to us.

I keep asking this. Why would Utah want Ingram, who wants a max deal? Are they a contender if they add Ingram? So two near max guys and I'm not ever sure if they make the playoffs. The Jazz want Flagg. They are tanking this season.
I can totally see us trading for Kessler using 2 1sts. I guess we would throw I'm some other bench guy to match salaries (I just hope it isn't Alvarado). But this should have been done by now. I don't know what we are waiting for..

Yeah this is an obvious trade. Overpay a bit and contend vs panic trading for Kessler 55 games into the season so that we can maybe make it into the play in. Throw some swaps at the Jazz. Just get this shite done.

Aren't they a 30 win team currently constructed? They have too much talent to out tank the likes of Detroit, Brooklyn, Washington, and Portland.
That's not including the tweener teams like Atlanta, Toronto, Chicago, etc.
I don't think they want Ingram either, but they're also a team who has to trade for another semi star player.

Utah isn't tanking to get Flagg. They're tanking to keep their own pick. They owe OKC their 1st round pick if it lands outside of the top 10.

Really? All you have to do is Google "Utah Jazz, Cooper Flagg". There are hundreds of articles, posts and videos (two examples below)

As someone already said, they have to be in the top 10 to keep their own pick. They also have two additional 1sts that will most likely be late picks (Cavs and Wolves). They do have some attractive players for teams that are borderline contenders that may have injuries, like Kessler, Sexton, Clarkson, Collins..

Ainge is winning that fight. They are no where near ready. They can claw to 40 wins. But they did nothing to bolster the roster to make a run. They had the assets and flexibility to make several big moves, if they were going to win now. They didn't do that. Plus all their starters are on the trade block (except Markkanen). It seems like a young team that is still building.

The West is too good and too deep for Utah to have any chance whatsoever of actually making the playoffs this season, so they might as well tank. "Trying to win" won't work, because they are probably the 14th-best team in the West as it stands right now (ahead of only the Blazers).

Def worth one 1st. Rim protection, we have none.

His averages through 138 games:
23min/ 69% fg/ 8reb/ 8.7pts/ 1ast/ 2.4blks
His per 36 is 13.5pts/ 12.4reb/ 3.7blks
Along with only 1.4TOV and 3.4PF....
Worth 2 firsts? Probably
Worth Hawk+ 1st? Probably
Worth Missi+ JRE+ 1st? Yes
Worth Missi+ Hawk+? Sure
Missi + Hawk + 1st is probably
The negotiations might be stuck at Hawk + Missi + 1st. Or (2) 1st + Hawk/ Missi. The hint being "Utah values Kessler at (3) 1st".

They should be unloading players they don't want or fit the timeline.
The only way they trade for Ingram is to also offload a bunch of players who can contribute like you said (starters they want to trade).
1. Clarkson (solid 6th man)
2. Collins (solid starting PF)
3. Kessler (starting center who has limitations)
4. Sexton (starting SG who's probably best role is a combo guard off the bench)
They are going to be sellers going into the NBA trade deadline. Those guys all have values to contenders, best to wait IMHO

I watched a podcast with the Jazz play by play guy, where they talked about adding Ingram. They weren't excited about it, and were concerned how it limits them going forward. According to him, they are targeting either next summer or the next to go all in for a run. Keeping Markkanen was important, as a 2nd or 3rd piece. For that to work, they need to hit in the draft. They will load up as many picks as possible, while giving playing time to as many as those young players as possible, to develop them. Those other vets will get flipped over time. They lost with them last year and didn't get better..

Yeah, I don't think that Utah wants Ingram. So, some kind of Ingram for Collins/Kessler trade would have to involve a third team that actually does want Ingram.
The deal that Utah almost certainly wants to do is Hawk + 2 firsts for Kessler. They want picks.
And Griff doesn't want to pay Ainge's price, or the deal would already be done.
So, we have a staring contest, and we'll have to see who blinks first. I think that it will depend on our record to start the season. If we can win games with Theis and/or small-ball lineups, then Griff may eventually be able to force Utah to cave and get Kessler for less than the current asking price.
