We just finished the second season, I’ll admit this was a lot better than I expected. Is Netflix really not going to give us a 3rd season? I don’t understand how Netflix makes these decisions when it comes to renewing and canceling shows.

I’m with you on that since Mindhunter was outstanding.

Mindhunter was a damn good series and I wish they would have kept it going for another season or 2.

It's apparently too pricey to continue. Viewership wasn't great. Unfortunately, the show is too smart for the masses.

There were only two flaws with the series as a whole, one from each season:

Season One: Holden's girlfriend. I swear that chick was so annoying in every scene she was in and I might be serious when I say that woman managed to speak her lines without moving her lips once.

Season Two: Bill's adopted son. I did not like the fact that he was slowly morphing into a child serial killer throughout the second season. It just seemed a little bit too on the nose and something I feel like would have forced the character to exit the crime unit they were part of in real life.

Agree with you on that Season 2 storyline. It was meh. The GF from Season 1 didnt bother me too much. Maybe because Season 1 is the superior season, that it never bothered me.

I thought they couldn’t get the main characters back due to scheduling conflicts

Fun fact, Holden is the same actor that originally played King George in Hamilton

For me, there hasn’t been a cancellation that has stung as much as mindhunter, rubicon & patriot.

Agreed on Mindhunter. Firefly will forever be number 1 on the “why the frick did you cancel that?” list, but Mindhunter is a solid number 2. It may be a bit off topic, but Rabbit Hole not getting a second season is climbing my list too.

Fincher has suggested this, but I'm not sure. He has a fairly broad relationship with Netflix and isn't going to throw them under the bus.

We'll probably never know the real reason.

My biggest annoyance is that we got extremely, painfully small glimpses at the BTK storyline sprinkled throughout 2 seasons only for it to not go anywhere and have it be unresolved. You could tell they were building up to something huge there

Hate the fact they didnt have a S3.
It was one of my top shows.

Read the same about cost and sheduling a while back.
Wish it would return

That's what they report, but I still have trouble actually believing it.

Unless we're talking exorbitant cast or development costs, how expensive could a period-procedural like this possibly be? This from a network that happily brought us the abysmal The Get Down and Marco Polo that each clocked in somewhere around $10m per episode.

My guess is that David Fincher just took on too many roles at the time and either had some sort of breakdown or found himself at constant odds with the production staff. All of the articles mention multiple people being fired, multiple rewrites, and "exhaustion."

In other words, I think Fincher just threw up his hands at some point and decided he wanted to stick to movies. Which is a real shame.

Fantastic freaking show. One of the best shows I've watched in the past couple of years.
