Medical Emergency Kit

I heard an advertisement today on Sirius for a "medical emergency kit." Dave Ramsey endorsed it so it caught my attention. Whether you like Dave or not, listen to him or not, that's not the point of this discussion.
Basically it's prescription medicine available to you without having to go to a doctor. I was actually surprised this is allowed, but I am also out of the know on many things.
Ivermectin, generic Z-pak, Amoxicillin, Azithromyicin, Doxycycline, Ondansetron are just some of the mediations included. The prices is $299.
Essentially it is being marketed to treat over 30 medical conditions, including some of Colitis, Nausea and vomiting, Sinus Infections, Strep Throat, Upper Respiratory Viral Illness, UTIs, and even STIs.
On hand one, I find it somewhat "expensive" --- however, when you factor in co-pays, prescription cost, plus your time --- the price becomes less significant and impactful.
Thoughts?

If I'm not mistaken, that's not what happens. After you pay, they have you do an "intake form" which is then reviewed by a provider who then "prescribes" the meds you receive from an online pharmacy.

Does the entire kit of medicine get released to you at once (after the provider reviews my chart)?
I ask, because they are charging $299 -- and I don't think it is broken down based on which Rx you receive or not. In other words, the $299 appears to provide the whole medicine kit.

I believe that is correct. You get everything, but they still have to run it by a proper provider and through a proper pharmacy. But I don't believe that it's a "Well, we reviewed your information and have decided you get these medicines, but not these others."

Understood, thank you.
What are your thoughts on something like this? Worth the cost? Potential savings?

Don’t some of those things expire or lose effectiveness?

Yeah that is what I was going to point out. Medication doesn’t last forever, usually under four years. It’s also massively expensive from what I skimmed.
You’d be better off having a kit with a tourniquet, basic bandages and gauze, quick clot, etc in the home, one in the car, etc. I built mine for about $20 a kit.

I keep my house stocked well with medicine. But I just call it in for my wife and then we have the basic necessities.
Which reminds me I need to call in more Zofran.

Many meds are effective for years after their "expiration date".
The following was taken from a Harvard study, "Drug Expiration Dates - Do They Mean Anything?":
quote:
Most of what is known about drug expiration dates comes from a study conducted by the Food and Drug Administration at the request of the military. With a large and expensive stockpile of drugs, the military faced tossing out and replacing its drugs every few years. What they found from the study is 90% of more than 100 drugs, both prescription and over-the-counter, were perfectly good to use even 15 years after the expiration date

My wife got a little freaked out when on more than one occasion CVS had delays in getting some prescriptions filled after COVID since they’re all produced in China so she ordered one of these. It has several solid antibiotics that treat damn near everything. And per the other poster, if stored properly they’re effective for years past their expiration date.
I guess that’s good to have in a SHTF situation.

Knowledge is King.
What's that saying about a fool and his money?
None of the things in that kit are the problem. Selling it all as a kit to laypeople is the problem. Not that a person like Dave Ramsey has any shame about these things anymore, although it is quite ironic to me that a "personal finance guru" is endorsing something like this.
I say knowledge is king because if you don't know what you are doing you will 100% waste your money on this kit. All $300? No, but it's still a waste unless you have some knowledge, so I'd rather people invest in their own education first, before they go buying something like this. It's understood that trust is at an all time low when it comes to medical providers, but that's as much on the public as it is on medical providers, "BigPharma", guv'mint, etc. You can always find a reason to call something bullshite, and I can't throw a crack rock over my shoulder without hitting several dozen "guys" that "do their own research" (on Youtube) all of these "guys" know a "guy" (Alex Jones) that tells it like it is, and that's how you end up overpaying for a bag of overpriced generic medications. I'd rather buy a plane ticket to a beautiful Mexican or South American country and buy all that shite over the counter and just bring it back home with me. I could even get a tan.
