To be fair, like a 95% chance he already had an owie.

Just a reminder to the utes on this thread

MJ won TWO Olympic gold medals. 1984 as a college player with a team full of college players against a world full of “professional” players. He won his second in 1992 on the DT—which never trailed in a game

For the old men, the 1992 team faced 8 nba players. The 2024 team will face 61

As someone who really doesn’t care for the guy…never been more proud than I was today. A true captain on the court. We lose by 20+ w/o him and Curry.

I can’t tell if you like Lebron or hate him. You post stats supporting how great he is but then he’s a joke of player? Confoozun.

He was 29 in 1992.

Lebron is 10 years older, with probably 15 more years of basketball on him

And about to win a 3rd

There won't ever be a Dream Team results again. Not because they were vastly better than Team USA today in 2024, but the competition is much better.

In 1992, there were like 20 or so international NBA players. Today there are 125 international players in the NBA. That may include G-league or whatnot because that seems high for game roster amount. Anyways, 6x the amount.

Same here. Extremely proud of Lebron (and Curry). Probably the greatest game I can recall watching and I’m a huge MJ guy who was 9 yo watching the Dream Team (peak basketball enjoyment btw).

Let’s get this gold!

Dream Team had two semi-retired players and a college guy. They were coasting against literal fans - much worse competition than they'd find at a good LA Fitness run or a solid amateur men's league.

Fact is, the Dream Team wasn't even the best of the NBA in 1992, and they're not comparable to any Gold Medal team since as far as roster construction and team-ceiling. .

As far as spectacle, though? Nothing will ever come close. MJ was a bigger world-wide star than anyone other than maybe Michael Jackson. Barkley on the street. Swan song for Magic and Bird. It was amazing.
