Opened as Jazzland on May 20, 2000, and closed as Six Flags New Orleans in 2005, this park has been abandoned for longer than it was ever operational. As with much of the damage wrought by Hurricane Katrina, moving on has proved more challenging than outside observers might anticipate.

It was a nice little park that was so poorly run. It's a real shame it was built in Nola and not somewhere worth a shite.

Jazzland/Six Flags was only operational for 5 years? Why did the Zephyr rollercoaster seem like it was 38 years old?

I went in 2000 or 2001 when it was Jazzland. It was a shitty version of a park like Astro World. At least one of the coasters used was some run of the mill coaster that you would see at a place like blue bayou (or even a smaller park). I had no desire to go back, but was pleased when Six Flags bought it and made some improvements it seems.

Spent a lot of time there as a kid from the early days of Jazzland.
The Jean Lafitte ride was pretty sweet before Six Flags turned it into SpongeBob.

They had a kid zone that rivaled the one at Grand Casino Avoyelles.

On the plus side, it is a great place to film post-apocalyptic movies.
